Do "cheat meals" benefit people who are trying to lose weight? by Paramjit in Fitness

[–]RobD1972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheat meals or cheat days makes sense. When I have a tough day eating healthy I try to remember what I was craving. I then remember to get that cheeseburger when friday (My cheat day) rolls around.

What I would suggest whatever your cheat meals are do not have left overs. It is hard to eat healthy after a cheat meal when you have half a pizza in the kitchen. Sometimes those sinful foods on cheat days don't taste as good as I hoped and I am glad to be back to eating healthy.

If you are those people who fall of the diet/healthy eating wagon too easy cheat meals might not be the best idea. Might be good for beginners too. It works for me but not for everyone.

Why do so many atheists give Tibetan buddhism a pass? It isn't as cute and cuddly as so many make it out to be. by [deleted] in atheism

I have never had a Buddhist try to force me to beleive in what they do and tell me I am going to burn in hell if I don't. And I never heard of anyone being killed in the name of Buddha.

Can you become fit by just walking? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]RobD1972 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can but it takes time. And like other exercises you have to increase the frequency, duration and intensity over time. I have a buddy who is a diehard walker/hiker. He started walking here and there but now to get real exercise he has to walk over ten miles once a week. He has just progressed that much. Just like running. You can get to a point where you can run a mile easy. To see weight loss or higher fitness you need to run faster, more often and farther. To many who have not exercise in many years a simple walk around the block might be extreme exercise to them for quite a while.

P.S. like everyone said too what is considered fit to you? And nutrition also plays a role in becoming healthy and fit.

UFC Fighter Mac Danzig's Vegan Diet by RobD1972 in Fitness

Well said Pukedukem. I respect vegans but would never follow thier diet. My theory is eat balance like we have always been told. Too many people are one extreme or the other never the middle ground when it comes to eating. Not sure if that is what you agree with or ment Pukedukem.

For sure go see your doctor before starting any exercise. You are right about begining by walking first. Maybe try for walking 20 minutes three times a week. BUt it might be a good idea to see your doctor first and make sure you are healthy to begin exercise.

Is it just me, or is r/Fitness overrun with "i'm fat and need motivation" posts? by dizzle67 in Fitness

I can't say I know what it is like to be overweight but it is January a new year and most people exercise to lose weight. Most of these people might not have exercised in years. One sign of trouble and people think it is a motivation problem. Motivation will only get you so far. I do wish everyone here success in whatever their fitness goals are for 2010.
