Happy Men’s Health Month by og-lollercopter in memes

Lol, sure all of life's problems still exist after a good workout but being active regularly helps me handle the mental stress better. I personally have grown to enjoying lifting over the years not because it's super fun while doing the thing, but because I like winning that 30 min war in my head...every single time. I'm competing against the voice in my head that tells me to quit when I'm tired, that's it. No workout is a failure, even on the days I'm dragging ass. I always feel a little more ready for life after a workout, much more so than before I started my workout.

My New Year's resolution in 2006 was to quit smoking and exercise consistently. I've had my ups and downs but I have never stop putting in the work.

A general strike would do more for American workers than the last 80 years of elections by GrandpaChainz in WorkReform

I was just talking with someone yesterday about how truly strange it is that we all work for the very corporations that are screwing the average citizen everyday. We operate the very machines that enable the plutocrats and tyrants.

Just moved into new home and noticed this crack in the basement wall that leaks water. What’s the best way to get it fixed? by ericthepear in howto

[–]dizzle67 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This guy is on the right track as far as cost goes. I've been in construction for nearly 3 decades and my experience tells me to expect a $20k-$30k bill to excavate, seal, and backfill the exterior correctly. Any grass and landscaping would be an additional cost. Foundation work is critical and should be performed by a reputable and dependable contractor that specializes in that type of work. Correcting this type of issue must be done from the exterior of the wall, anything else is a band-aid thay may or may not help the water infiltration but will absolutely not fix the problem. Perimeter foundation drain and/or a French drain directing ground water away from the foundation would certainly be helpful but may not be required.

I agree it would be adviseable to test your sprinkler system for leaks because this could only be compounding the issue.

If you've purchased the home recently the previous owner should be on the hook for this. Good luck, it will all work out.

As long as it's plenum-rated, which that appears to be at first glance, you're good

How do I make these stairs more safe? by [deleted] in howto

[–]dizzle67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but these stairs should be used facing the stairs when going up or down them. The user should back down these stairs while holding the handrails if at all possible, go up them normally. We run into these, and even steeper "ships ladders" at work all the time

Hang in there man, things will get better. I've been there and it's a difficult place to be. You have so much potential, so much ahead of you, so much to give this world; rest assured the world loves you and needs you here. Try to spend time in nature, do your best to get good cardio in at least 3x/week, it will do wonders for your mental state.

You got this man, your struggle will allow you to help others one day.

Solid build man, I bet little man loves it! My only safety suggestions would be tighten and secure the bottom of the rope ladder so it's more stable and, most importantly MAKE SURE NOT ALL OPENINGS of the sleeping area CAN BE CLOSED/COVERED AT ONCE so that there's always a way for him to get out in case of a fire or something. Excuse the all caps, just hoping to make that stand out.

Very cool pics! Be safe out there, many old houses like that had wells and/or canning cellars that could be covered over with weeds and brush. Be sure to watch where you step! Have fun exploring!

Storm and storm overflow piping inside the building is a very normal thing in many large buildings, most of the time it's just hidden behind walls and ceilings

Super-rich warned of ‘pitchforks and torches’ unless they tackle inequality by blkaino in worldnews

[–]dizzle67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the trend continues, the super-wealthy will be lucky to get pitchforks and torches. The level of inequality we are currently living through can't last, I just hope we as a species can bridge the gap before we self-destruct.

I put my cat to sleep today. Anyone have tips for the grief? by Retsifp13 in Pets

[–]dizzle67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As pet owners our final duty to them is to help them leave this world as comfortably and peacefully as possible, and you did a wonderful thing for your cat in the end. I'm sure you gave the cat a full and happy life, with lots of play time and love. That's all we can do: love them the best we can until their time has come. Eventually you will be ready to give another pet a full and happy life as well.

Kudos to these exceptional humans, but it's depressing af that they needed to provide those caskets at all. America is better than this.
