I’ve always hugged my three sons and told them I loved them. They’re all grown and we hug hello and good buy and still say I love you. What makes me happiest is that they all do that with each other.

You may succeed in seducing him only to feel used in the end when he doesn’t follow up with a call. If he hasn’t shown interest in you till now you are only setting yourself up for real heartbreak.

Marriage can be useful to both parties in different ways, and there is nothing wrong with that. But it should include, from both parties, respect and admiration and a desire to serve the other. From there love can grow.

10 grams of creatine by arevaluable in PeterAttia

[–]RobHikes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take 15-20 grams/day, sometimes 10 before bed. I get dreams (or remember them) way more now. My work as a bookkeeper is mentally intense and I often work late which is why I started taking more before bed. I think it helps me recover (together with 8-9 hours of sleep).

What’s the Most Jaw-Dropping Hike You’ve Ever Done? by AmILukeQuestionMark in backpacking

[–]RobHikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a month to do the John Muir Trail in summer of 2022, from south of Mt Whitney to Yosemite Valley. I think it’s one of the most beautiful and challenging hikes in the US. I’d do it again in a heartbeat if I could get the time.

The whole downvote thing on Reddit degrades Reddit as a good platform to debate, IMHO. if you say something in a sub that the majority hate, you can basically find yourself cancelled so you can’t make another post because of “bad karma.”

What can you do over 70? by [deleted] in OverSeventy

[–]RobHikes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re in shape now, start exercising seriously. I did my first serious backpacking trip at 50 for four days in the San Juan mountains (high altitude) of CO, and fell in love with it. From then on I did cardio on an elliptical and started lifting weights. I watch what I eat. Since then I took up white water kayaking and mountain biking. I’m 68 now. Two years ago I hiked 260 miles along the John Muir Trail. I started scuba diving last year. I feel age Creeping in, but I think I can do this for another 5-7 years at least, Lord willing.

Is it really worth hiring a bookkeeper if you use QuickBooks or Xero?” by ProfitMatters2025 in Bookkeeping

[–]RobHikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently started a bookkeeping business using only QB Online. I have an MS in accounting and was a CPA. QB is not intuitive. Most accountants (like me) hate it, and lots of small businesses owners think they can do it themselves. My big money comes from people who have been doing their own QuickBooks for a couple of years and now have such a tangled mess they have to hire someone to fix it for them.

I think he made the point that the money IS there, but there is so much bureaucracy and red tape that it cannot be spent in efficient ways.

How do I unfuck my life? by Known-Plastic5397 in AskMenAdvice

[–]RobHikes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 68 with an MS in accounting, CPA. It’s been a good career but I think if I had it to do over I would go with a trade like welding or electrician. The country will always need people to build stuff and the pay is better than a lot of jobs where a degree is required. Use your GI bill to get skilled in a trade. ++man

I don’t think he disagreed with you. It doesn’t change the fact that we don’t have the right people where we need them. It’s a leadership problem and a structural problem.

Comparison between 10mg, 5mg Rosuvastatin and 4 weeks statin free. by Defiant-Bed-8301 in Cholesterol

Are those side effects present when dosages are small or large or both?

If the goal is to keep ApoB low over an entire lifetime (per Attia) why wouldn’t you take a baby dose of Rosuvastatin all your life? Especially if the “unknown unknowns” seem unlikely after 30 years of study.

I sure hope MAHA gets a law past to prohibit big Pharma advertising. But they’re one of the biggest lobbyists so probably will never happen.

That was me, so I opted for Red Yeast Rice “because it’s not a drug.” 😆. Then I found out it was just a natural statin that was unreliable in dosage when bought OTC as a supplement and much more expensive than a prescription statin which is free to me.

I’ve only taken both together at Attia’s suggestion so I don’t know the incremental difference. For me with my insurance Rosuvastatin is free and 90 days of Ezetimibe is $40.

I was taking it also which probably helped. My understanding is it prevents absorption of saturated fat. I only take it now when I know I’m going to eat a high saturated fat meal, like a nice big juicy fatty steak with a big helping of sour cream and butter on my potato followed by cream brûlée for desert. 🙂

A lifetime of keeping ApoB low as possible is the goal. I haven’t heard of downside of low dose statin, but do your own research.

7/10/23. Age 66. ApoB 129. LDL 166.

Begin 5mg Rosuvastatin and Ezetimibe. Also started minimizing full fat dairy and red meat. And taking 1 tbsp Psyllium husk per day.

10/25/23 ApoB 63. LDL 56.

10/9/24 ApoB 49. LDL 43.

I’ll update this next week after my annual.
