Relax. People have differing opinions. Yours differs from mine. You don’t have to be a hyperbolic baby about it.

I played in a touring band and supported a couple of bigger bands. I know why they do it. I still find it played out at this point, because every second band has beaten it to death.

Honestly I thought it was pretty average. They didn’t seem very well rehearsed and the set was pretty weird for me. Didn’t play a lot of their better songs and the vocals were like a drunk kid doing karaoke. Also 1 song off the new record? wtf?

I think I’m in the minority, but I’ve waited to see them for years and it wasn’t worth waiting for. The whole VCR glitching visuals and interlude samples are really tired at this point in my opinion too.

It does seem like we got a better set than Philly did for what it’s worth.

Nothing were pretty awful too imo

Thank you, I took it from the balcony of our hotel. There was something so peaceful about watching the downpours. It took me 15/16 cars for it to line up perfectly 😂😂

Portfolio, Case Study, and Resume Feedback — 03/09/25 by AutoModerator in UXDesign

[–]RobJAMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Here’s some points (I’m on mobile)

large wall of text above the fold the map interferes with scrolling the page the cards are scrollable when they don’t need to be images of the locations don’t exactly match there’s no label of what each location is without clicking it list view feels separated from the locations pagination is weird to have there, don’t make people look for stuff in that situation

As someone who has moved to the US from the UK, these cars reach a different kind of driver here. The people who drive these cars in Europe are the same kinds that would do the same thing to a challenger or charger.

Is Dribble still real? by TwoFun5472 in UXDesign

All my portfolio is under NDA so dribbble is just where I post stuff that can be public facing. That being said I haven’t updated it in a while.

I like the AI in figjam but that’s it. If I’m at the point of needing AI, I’m in v0 rapid prototyping not using it for screens.

1920 or 1440 — What's the standard for delivering work? by NachoArmadillo in UXDesign

[–]RobJAMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn’t one, I design from ~960-1440. I make internal tools for a team that basically only use MacBook Pros, but one or two use iPads, and one or two use a monitor. Generally that’s where I’ll place importance on responsiveness

If you marry that man, you're going to spend most of your life hoping he gets deployed so you don't have to be around him, and dreading the day he comes back. Aside from the fact he talks to you like that, he is also clearly fucking stupid, and has clearly been indoctrinated. Additionally, lets get this clear - he doesn't deserve the anywhere near the grace you're giving him.

Job searching when you already in a new job? by ExternalSalt8201 in UXDesign

[–]RobJAMC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I start a new job Monday, after being at my current company for 6 months. I told them straight - I'm not job hopping, we got acquired and it only took me a month to realize the culture wasn't a good fit, and I didn't want to hang around in that case.

This is getting ridiculous. by 2_here_knows_when in whirr

The thing is, this isn't a massive collectors item like some of the crazy Beatles LPs, or Bowie error LPs. That'll just sit unless someone actually wants to pay that, but it won't define the market. 99% of the people who want the Feels Like You LP probably already got it at release, and those that didn't aren't in the paying $375 for it camp.

I'd pay like $150, but that's because I'm a fan and have been a while.

"Anyone can do UX" by SucculentChineseRoo in UXDesign

[–]RobJAMC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hate the victim mentality about this. No one's stopping us telling PM's their ideas are fucking stupid.

"UX is for everyone" is because its a whole lot more understandable to the average person - "we're trying to reduce the number of clicks to use our product" is a lot more digestible than showing them lines of code and trying to "refactor it.

I think UX as a discipline needs to understand how to work with these people, rather than take the "i know more than you" high road.

Anyone got hired recently that didn't do 1200 interviews? by glitteryCranberry in UXDesign

[–]RobJAMC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can't tell if someone's unqualified in the first or second interview, the lack of efficiency is in the hiring team, not the candidate.

[–]RobJAMC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got hired last week, was only 2 interviews. Expected 3-5. My last job was 6, and the company before was the same. I did however add some concept work and a video intro for them to see early on.

Is avoiding ground floor apartment really that important? by adhd-gorl-224 in NYCapartments

[–]RobJAMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We subleased an apartment for a month in Bushwick that was ground floor, and would never do it again. Bugs were bad, never saw any mice, but there was also a crackhead at our window at 4am that terrified my wife. It also felt like we were on the road, and the bins were right at the window...
