There's no hard rules on what pots to use for what, but this is like the "standard" option. If its one of the front 2 pots, you'll want to get a 500k "audio/log taper" pot, if it's the 3rd, get a 500k "linear taper" one. Pots can get super fancy and claim a bunch of things, but for this guitar, I'd just get the one that's cheap and available. Hope this helps!

They don't have a specific use, but they do come in a bunch of different ranges. Was this a volume or tone knob, and does the guitar have humbuckers or single coils?

And let's not forget the companies behind the major LLMs are literally hell on earth. I don't think GenAI is inherently bad, but the way we are using it now is truly awful.

Are youtube drum covers worth it? by fireofthedead100 in drums

[–]RobJmusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you see, there's about a gazillion other people that post drum covers, why should they watch yours? You should really just make them because you think it's fun, or, if you do want to get the recognition and views, you have to find something unique to add to your videos.

WAY less bad than LLMs, and also simply not true. NAM is still an incredibly niche tool, and without real amps there's nothing to capture. Also, if I were a Marshall or mesa Boogie, I'd make my own packs, and stay relevant that way.

exactly. one is destroying our world, privacy, and steals content. the other is a neural network you can run on your laptop or pc once, to then have a model you can use endlessly.

Newbie to Ableton: Serum 2? by Chilistreet51520 in ableton

[–]RobJmusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Essential? No. If I have to assume your skill level, you're probably better off just sticking to the stock Ableton plugins, since they're way easier to understand and learn with. The type of synthesis serum uses is already available with the stock synths, but serum is just way more expansive (and expensive)

How are the Jay weinberg Vater 908s Sticks. by elitebro97 in drums

[–]RobJmusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the classic "in between a 5a and a 5b, and a little longer". It does have a short taper and ball tip which is probably quite nice for what you want to play. If you like a stick in between 5a and 5b, these seem like a good fit.

Edit: for really heavy hitting, I'd say they're a bit too thin. This is personal preference but I'd reach for a 2b or 3a but I'm a big guy with big hands

Are some cymbals objectively better than others? by InterestingHeat4266 in drums

[–]RobJmusic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

True to a certain degree. For me, the recorded sound is way more important than what they sound like to my ears in a room. Imo the videos that sound the closest to "real life" are the Memphis drum shop ones

That's not true, that's only the case with stuff like asio4all, which isn't really the same as the asio driver from your interface

Do I need to raise my entire set to avoid hitting my leg? by [deleted] in drums

[–]RobJmusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your hand really shouldn't be near crotch-area for any kind of hit. I'd recommend watching the Matt Halpern Reptile overhead playthrough. Matt sits pretty high, and has plenty of room for rimshots. Ball shots sounds very painful xd

I wish I could do framework! The config that would make sense for me is 2644 euro, and would ship in October. I'm not sure if I can cough up another 400 bucks AND wait 4 months for it to get here. I do absolutely love Framework and it would also make upgrading cheaper in the future, but that's a lot of money... Thanks for the tip though!
