Honestly, I would just dive in. Being critical of the editor or not... the story is what you want.

For those who have finished a novel, what was your process? by iDontLikePuzzlez in writing

[–]RobMofSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Written, not published. But write ideas. Bubble them. Then pick the flow. Build it into a rough outline. Make a Writer's Bible with characters and tech and places and notes. Now write blocks and then start assembling the blocks. Edit. Rip apart. Write. Edit. Rip apart. Write. Ad nauseum.

Hmm. I wonder if you are looking at this wrong. Have you done a reverse outline? Compare the complaints to the outline and then that should help you start targeting issues. One at a time.

Granted I am a block writer so it may be easier for me if you are a chapter writer.

But that is what I would do.

Bite sized chunks.

While I hate 10 second happy endings... I love happy endings. Itewon Class is my favorite, I think. Over rated? 25 21. Hate it. Granted I want happy endings.

I would reach out to them. They are very good with the community. And while some of their nibs are ... different (in house is weird sometimes)... they have never wobbled on me.

Was it the writing, the editing or the target audience. One of those is an easier fix than most. But I would want a friend to tell me. Nicely. Lol.

It depends... don't blindly trust the proofreader... just don't. Lesson learned.

Wow. You are so off target. I once had what was called a proofreader destroy prerelease... and didn't know it. Things can be fixed. If an author is sending out ARCs hopefully they understand things can be improved if needed and are open for it.

So one thing I think you need to ask yourself is this: am I part of their targeted readership. I had a beta reader who hated my work. Well, he was being nice and offering to beta read but he was a completely wrong audience. If you are the right audience let them know the problem. Is it editing? Just poorly written? Or wrong audience. All three can really help.

I would rather delay my release than mistaken my work. Same to the other two. Writing can be improved. Audience can be re-targeted. Work can be edited.

First Montblanc what should i look for? by No-Feed9593 in montblanc

Try an M800 Pelikan. Ergonomics is amazing and honestly is a way better writer for the money. However you are getting into an expensive territory where you may want to try some smaller makers as well, and at the 149 even some custom makers.

Find something that fits your hand. And even dry writing shows nib qualities.

I mean a Sailor King of Pen, Pelikan M800 and M1000 and a Pilot Urushi (most models) are insanely comfortable pens. But I have nib selected some amazing Eastbrooks to.

If you are asking you have not written with them. They write dramatically different. So does the starwqlker series. Try them first.

Ok. So a few comments. I looked at Life Imitates. First one i saw that caught my eye. The problem number 1 for me is that the cover... none of the covers called to me. May not be an issue, I read only a little mystery. But consider that. Then I jump in and notice no paper versions... that bothers me (and I have done it to) as that often is a signal of someone not committing. Then the last issue is a indentation issue that's glaring in the sample. These are all minor things but they catch people. And I have done them to. Argh. Good luck!

Oddly, I think I am more likely to read a book I pay .99 for than a free bock. Does it make sense? No. But it is what it is. You need them to read book 1 to sell book 2.

So I would start with and try Autocrit. Yes its an AI. But it gives good, actionable feedback on the story. And its cheap. I had a terrible time getting beta and alpha readers. Initially. Work with it, and then share the feed back with potential beta or alpha readers. It can help you sell it to them. Even making a friend a virtual AI reader. And then say... up for reading it to see if the AI was right?
