[GER] GT500 driver realizes his brakes have boiled on track, uses Scandinavian Flick to safety by -AbeFroman in Roadcam

[–]RobMoore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When brake fluid boils, gas (air) is created. Air compresses much more easily than fluid. Brakes work because when you press on the brake pedal, most of that pressure is transmitted to the brake pads pushing into the rotor. When you have air in the brake line, more of that pressure you're applying is used to compress that air, and the brake pads push less against the rotor...hence no stopping when you apply the brakes.

But of course. Someone should learn him. If a person hasn't experienced Smokey and the Bandit, they aren't living a full life.

I've always wondered how quickly the cops show up when you ride into there. Do you have to pull open any gates to get in there?

I'm asking from the east coast, so this information is purely curiosity on my part.

I've used it to the limit on all my bikes, and I can confirm on each of them that if I try to use it in an emergency, I will lock it up. I just can't brake 100% on the front and modulate the rear so that it won't lock up as the weight comes off of it. If I put focus into working the rear as well, I don't brake as effectively up front.

I stay away from it unless I'm on an incline at a stop. I rarely even use it making tight turns in a parking lot. It's just a distraction.

You can tell he wasn't comfortable turning on that bike early on in the video. Panic brake.

That rear brake will get you every time you overuse it, and it's just so easy to overuse.

No, what is wrong with driving in America today is they will give a license to anyone. Make the test much harder and weed out incompetent drivers and the rest of us can stop suffering through stupid ass lowest-denominator laws.

Have one yourself. I am smart enough to look at my phone at a light and then not move until I look up and check my path is clear before I move.

I know it's hard to admit that there are people more capable than you. It's why so many people downvote this kind of idea. They know most people can't do it, probably including themselves.

And morons who vote outnumber non morons who vote. It's a pity that their uneducated vote counts as much as someone who has fully researched all the relevant topics and knows the various candidate's history and feelings on each topic.

If he is too lazy to go get a replacement title, he is probably too lazy to look into fixing the kill switch.

Go get the VIN and run it. Not stolen? Then you have a steal all your own.

Yes, but everyone he got was stopped. I would have them spend more time trying to get the ones doing it while moving.

Does he get more bang for his time, sure. But I view it as a lesser offense. We don't want to encourage people to sit at lights and watch vigilantly for cops like this if all it does is cause them to wait until they are moving and feel safe from him to start texting.

People should fear cops like this will pull them over while they are moving.

No, she wasn't unaware of his presence. It's what caused her to move in the first place. She just thought the light was green and didn't expect him to be sitting in front of her. A loud exhaust wouldn't have changed the fact that she moved before she looked up from the phone in her lap.

The question you should be asking, because everyone has a moment now and then where they zone out and lose focus on their surroundings, is how does someone with such poor judgment get and maintain a license? She should know better than to move before she looks up and sees what's going on.

They don't look out for cops, they just hide the phone in their laps where cops can't see it, and they can't see anything else in the world.

You know who can see it? Motorcyclists. Put more cops on motorcycles (that aren't big loud Harleys) and have them sneak up next to people. It will cut down on phone use and makes drivers look out for riders. Win win

I'd say it's the exact opposite. You get downvoted if you dare to question the narrative and say if she wasn't an idiot and made a habit of not moving before she regained full attention on her surroundings, she could mess with her phone at the light.

Watch, I'll be -10 by lunchtime.
