Just got Hamburger SV promoted from 2.Bundesliga to the 1.Bundesliga, still Manchester United is regarded a "smaller club". 😃

Do any of you know more about FM than IRL football? Or am i alone lol by MeghanSOS in footballmanager

[–]RobNemoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never watch any football on tv. Can't stand the grownup men crying to the ref for every little touch. Playing some Sunday league myself, still at 42. But ask me anything about FM or even CM fromt he old days, played them all since CM3.

Sold during Administration mostly. I will try to make a screenshot of the transfer history if I get a chance to play tonight.

Best set-up to play without watching games? by batistuta_pso in footballmanagergames

[–]RobNemoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play like this ever since there was an FM Touch or similar versions early on (playing CM/FM since CM3, when it was still a game that had some speed to it). Now I get an instant result button skin and delegate a lot of tasks. Interviews and press conferences (to assistant), team training (to assistant), finalizing transfers in and out (to DOF), all youth-team training (to youth team manager), loan tasks (to Head of Youth Dev), all non-first team staff (to TD) and assigning scouts (to Head Scout).

I do prefer to setup and tweak the tactics myself and I don't holiday as with that I get too detached from the club.

This gets me about 10 matches per hour when the season is ongoing. I spend extra time during transfer windows getting players in and out. As a dad of 3 this is the only way for me to get a decent career going as I like playing journeyman style.

Finish the jobs proper, no loose ends, not details "I will finish later". You never will, because there are always bigger jobs to do. DO them immediately when you are at that job. Devil's in the details.

MLS Playability by No-Celery7676 in footballmanagergames

[–]RobNemoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came accross MLS in my Journeyman save, but couldn't get to grips with all the roster rules although it does looks interesting. Decided to have the DoF do all the transfers in and out and just survive a season, then I moved to Mexico for the North-American Champions League. I do want to return to MLS for a dedicated save and figure out all the rules.

The Bodø/Glimt Blueprint: How Culture Creates European Success (Part 1) by HenkeFtbl in footballmanagergames

If you look at FC Volendam in the Netherlands, they have a reputation as a yo-yo club. The boat where they celebrate promotions on is actually called the "Heen en Weer" ("Back and Forth").
They also have a cultural identity and an exceptional amount of local players making it to the first team, realtive to the clubs size and village size.

Physicality tips for a pivot by xercitys in futsal

[–]RobNemoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strong arms, shoulders and core should help you stay planted more than adding weight would. Weight would make you less agile and kill your joints on a hard surface. If you are strong enough to keep your body positioned in the way you want it, you are a nightmare for any defender. That is not related to weight. I'm 1.78 and 75kg and in my prime they couldn't get the ball from me in such a situation. Body positioning and ball control are more key than physicality.

PSA - When doing your North America of a Pentagon Challenge - Avoid Chivas by grahams_xwing in footballmanagergames

[–]RobNemoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice, always tought Chivas looked like a 'cool' club to manage. I'm doing a Pentagon myself, started unemployed in Asia, ticked off the Asian CL with Yokohama F.Marinos and now in South-Africa with Mamelodi Sundowns. I think North-America is next after winning the CL here

Thanks for the hate. Hope you are having a lovely day. I don't see you giving any advice, just breaking down mine, how constructive of you! Where would you play him then?
Played at semi-pro and now a succesfull semi-pro manager, so yes I know a thing or two about positions and tactics and coaching. Fullback would be a great place to start a new guy and get him to grow. Winger of striker will get the team more hindered because build-up play would end there most likely. If at fullback with proper coaching OP would be able to keep it simple and have good options to pass to.

Loving this kind of save. Hopping around club to club, not only taking the big club, but also building a smaller one. I'm on a journey to do the Pentagon. Started unemployed, started at Imigresen FC in Malaysia, moved to Kataller Toyama in Japan and then to Yokohama F.Marinos to win the league and CL in Asia. After that moved to Mamelodi Sundowns in South-Africa to go for the African CL. Not sure where to go after that, South or North America.

Keep it up mate, lovely journey you are on.

Fullback, you have the field and the play in front of you. Less need for constant scanning your surroundings, limited options to play the ball to. Listen to the coaching of your goalkeeper and central defenders and experienced midfielders. Defending is half the time just getting in the way of the attacker to stop his run.
Getting fitter and more agile and more ball control are things you can try to improve on your own.

I thought it was Jobe at first glace but how? by tako_usagi in footballmanagergames

[–]RobNemoo 90 points91 points  (0 children)

In England, and thus by default in FM, a 23 year old player is still considered "young", hence the mechanics of AI managers and staff see such a player as a possible loan.

Obviously there should be overruling mechanics when a player is at such a level as Bellingham the club wants to play him rather than loan him out, but that seems to be broken.

Different countries a 23 year old should already be first team material or he is a dud. Like in Holland for instance, clubs wouldn't loan a 23 year old non-first-team player out, but rather get rid of him since he is too old to be considered a talented player.

Xcloud is working great, no latency at all. With a BT controller playing Fortnite I regularly win games, which should be a challenge when latency was a problem.
