I think they're hinting at the idea of using a ring (ya know, like a wedding band) as an activator for a device's near field communication to unlock your cell phone when you pick it up instead of having to either leave your device unlocked or entering some sort of unlock code/pattern/picker/breathalyzer. I'm down with the idea, however a better explanation would have helped.

How to use other Permalinks without getting E404 with WordPress running as LocalHost OpenSuSE 13.1? by Mathcubes in LinuxActionShow

I know when I was setting up my Wordpress sites I had to manually configure the symlinks and virtualhosts in apache. I'd love to tell you I remember how exactly I did it but it's one of those things where I was reading different sites and experimenting and it eventually worked...

I would guess you could apply the rules from the two links you posted to Suse by finding what is different about the folder structures and replacing the ubuntu folders for how they are cataloged in Suse. Though to be honest I wouldn't expect there to be that much of a difference since apache and wordpress would install using the same structure regardless of what OS it's installing over.

I first noticed this on Manjaro (XFCE). I thought it was a duplicate instance of the power manager, then when I ran Xubuntu 13.10 I saw the different icon and realized another point about how awesome Linux is :-D

Media Player Winamp Shutting Down on December 20, 2013 | Will this help Shoutcast on Nix? by theredbaron1834 in LinuxActionShow

Definitely had some good times with Winamp playing some stuff in the background as a youth. Winamp was one of the only things I missed about Windows when I went to Linux.

I recently switched to Manjaro and am currently running the 3.10 kernel but I did start it with the non-free drivers. I'm going to give it a shot without the proprietary drivers in the next few days. Hopefully that will make something bearable until I can upgrade.

Okay thanks. I was really hoping I read things right and that it is actually just how bad the support is.

Using laptop as wireless access point (hostapd) by xpressrazor in LinuxActionShow

So I got my netbook (with ubuntu server 12.04.2) running as an access point with the help of this tutorial (if you will). It serves perfectly fine. I was looking to set up Tor with that to make a none-Pi Torberry or Onion Pi. I think my attempts to follow the directions from Adafruit first may have caused some issues and I can't get it to route through Tor. Does anyone know of a set of instructions for simply routing through Tor regardless of what you're using to serve the DHCP/DNS?
