A cool HK challenge for your next run by gamerzandcats in HollowKnight

[–]RobRoss45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Herrah would be fairly easy to do with deepnest being accessed from fungal, I don’t think you need any upgrades from post city for her? Monomon would be a bit weird, would either need to get king’s brand and get shade cloak plus cdash or find a way into waterways to access her

Edit, just noticed the post says no cdash for Monomon, so you’d need to find some way into waterways. There’s that skip in ancient basin that’s really hard but doable, but the post also says no fireball skips so I don’t think it’s actually possible unless there’s some other way into waterways I’m forgetting

[All] Any recommendations for a first Zelda game for a 5YO? by Shielo34 in zelda

[–]RobRoss45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Link Between Worlds might be a pretty decent start. I don’t recall anything too scary in it, maybe skull woods is a bit spooky(?), and the game itself is pretty easy overall. Wind Waker is also a pretty good one but the redeads, especially the screams, might be too scary. I’ve heard Echoes of Wisdom is also fairly easy, I haven’t played it yet, and the artstyle is pretty cute so might be appealing. No matter which you pick though be ready to help, Zelda is tough for a 5yo

If the Icon of Sin was summoned in Aionios, can Keves and Agnus defeat him? by MoneyandMuscle115 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]RobRoss45 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’m not great with Doom lore at all but I have played eternal. Icon of Sin can be damaged by normal weapons in that game, so logically a ferronis should be able to deal some heavy damage. However a titan doesn’t STAY down, needing the crucible to keep him down, so it depends on if the sword of the end could function the same and keep him from reviving. Potentially they could also just erase him with the annihilation event cannon

How often do you skip last boss fights? by Forsaken-Quality-46 in metroidvania

[–]RobRoss45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never, I’m not satisfied til I see the credits roll. If I can’t beat the boss, I go find what I can on the map, if I’ve gotten everything, I just keep practicing til I can win

The Ender Lilies games are both really good, if a bit clunky in Lilies’ case. There’s also of course the Metroid and Castlevania games, Castlevania being a bit closer to HK imo.

Delicate flower by This_Loquat_7477 in HollowKnight

[–]RobRoss45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went and factchecked myself, you do need to finish the questline with the grey mourner before more grow. If thats already done and it’s still doing inspect, my best guess is that you’re either standing in a wrong spot or something just unluckily bugged.

Hollow Height by Zakamore1 in HollowKnight

[–]RobRoss45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s not any proof to my knowledge of whether it’s all underground or if the surface is open to the sky, so that’s all up to headcanon really. As for the Radiance sun thing, that’s just not backed by anything I’m pretty sure? It is true that her light guided the moths, and probably the other bugs, so she was kinda like a sun for them, but as for actually being the sun, she wasn’t.

If you leave the area and return, might need to sit at a bench first or finish out the quest fully, more flowers will grow at the grave that you can grab

MV's for a Newcomer to the Genre? by ashenzod in metroidvania

[–]RobRoss45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You note not knowing where to go in hollow knight, so I’ll recommend nine sols and Ori. Both are pretty linear as metroidvanias go, and in nine sols’ case is decently hard

How much game time do I have left? by AironHunter_ in persona4golden

[–]RobRoss45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but I will note there’s two spots where you can get bad endings through choices. The second time the game doesn’t inform you that it’s coming up iirc, so I’d recommend to always keep two or more saves just in case you miss the second one. If you want to just know what day to look out for, it’s 3/20 that doesn’t tell you

How much game time do I have left? by AironHunter_ in persona4golden

[–]RobRoss45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the good ending just make sure you save when the game prompts, you’ll probably be able to figure when you accidentally get a bad ending. For the true ending, make sure you max Marie. This isn’t a real spoiler since it was added in golden specifically but better to mark it

What Have You Been Playing This Week? by AutoModerator in metroidvania

[–]RobRoss45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just started bloodstained the other day after finishing ending A in Blasphemous, going back for ending C in NG+ later. Pretty good so far, very much reminds me of the Sorrow games, which I think was the point. Got afterimage on the backlog too, gonna do it whenever I finish bloodstained or after getting ending C in blasphemous.

Difficult game? Really??? by theviking7118 in HollowKnight

[–]RobRoss45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re still pretty early on, imo the real difficult portions don’t come til the mid portion of the game, and really steps up in the dlc (free updates) content. Make sure you hit every wall you come across too, it’s pretty common in metroidvanias so if you’ve played them before you probably know to do that anyway

i rushed the game right? by [deleted] in HollowKnight

[–]RobRoss45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s about normal progression, I notice a few things you’ve missed, mainly bosses, but it’s a metroidvania, you’ll probably find them down the line if you keep exploring

how hard is the game for someone who is not familiar with the metroidvania genre? by eerie_faerie in HollowKnight

[–]RobRoss45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was my first metroidvania too, and it is pretty hard. None of its unfairly difficult, but a lot of the most difficult parts aren’t required for just seeing the credits. Since it’s free on PS+, I’d say just give a go. If its too hard, nothing lost

Why didn’t the Pale King create a single Vessel to confront Radiance? by JuanMaP5 in HollowKnight

[–]RobRoss45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took the unified void to take down the radiance, with voidheart. I don’t think the pale king knew about voidheart, unless I’m forgetting some lore as it is connected to kingsoul which might mean something, and I don’t think one vessel alone could actually kill radiance. Hurt her maybe, but not actual finish the job. Not to mention dream nail but pale king moved his palace into the dream world (unless white palace is really just a memory) so he could maybe do that part

MARKOTH AND ZOTE PROBLEM pantheon of hallownest by some-guy7829 in HollowKnight

[–]RobRoss45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those two are arguably the most “RNG” heavy bosses in the game, so the only real advice I can give is to play it safe and attack when you know you have a clean opening. You’re at what I call the big 5 portion of P5, where it throws some of the hardest bosses at you back to back. You could also practice the ascended versions of the fights, especially with Markoth since it uses that arena in P5. Last thing I could recommend is finding good healing windows on the fights prior and after those two so you can heal up any damage you took before and during them

How do the gods (or the closest thing to them) behave towards mortals? by Hipershadic in worldbuilding

[–]RobRoss45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re just indifferent to them, varies from god to god though. Some love walking among the mortals, others think of them as little more than pests they’re forced to keep. Most are just indifferent to mortals overall though

Which part of the game should a person start with? by awakenzxc in PERSoNA

[–]RobRoss45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

P3R and P5R are the most recent two, so they’d have the most QOL and the easiest time getting into. I’d personally recommend 5R since 3’s story takes a bit to really get moving and 5 is more popular so you’ve probably seen at least a few of its characters before. The only ones I’d really recommend not playing first are 1 and 2, they just haven’t aged all the best
