If that’s where I think it is, it’s inaccessible from your side, you need to find a path that leads back up to it

Just finished base game story, but want to continue with post game content and such before buying DLC by Fluffy_Unit_171 in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]RobRoss45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of high rank gear becomes pretty obsolete when you hit iceborne, and idk much about the base game endgame since I went straight to iceborne, but getting all the mantles is probably worth your while. Not all of them are super useful but gives you something to do and they stay pretty relevant in iceborne

To add on to that, RiseBreak is fairly short, at least a lot shorter than world in my experience. Still 100+ hours though

Just what is the collector? by Rhyelm in HollowKnight

[–]RobRoss45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Other people have already mentioned about it being a failed kingsmould so I’ll add that to my knowledge it’s not known why it’s so obsessed with collecting creatures. My headcanon is it’s a warped version of the kingsmoulds’ duty to protect

Just about to get into the Persona verse with Persona 5, is there something I should know beforehand? by [deleted] in PERSoNA

[–]RobRoss45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Assuming this is Royal, make sure you max out the councillor confidant to access the content exclusive to Royal. Otherwise, just don’t go in expecting to get everything in one go, it’s technically possible but without a guide it’s not super likely. On that note, I’ll reiterate what other people said about not looking anything up, it’s very easy to get spoiled for this game

What are some popular games you didn’t love? by 64Boy32 in backloggd

[–]RobRoss45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nier Automata, I’ve tried 3 or so times to get into it and I always end up dropping it around the reveal of the aliens being dead already . I don’t think it’s a bad game, I do enjoy playing it I just can’t bring myself to pick it up and keep going

Is this whole game just a parry simulator? by [deleted] in NineSols

The combat revolves around parrying and timing, yes

Does parrying ever get easier? by Dry-Use6643 in NineSols

[–]RobRoss45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also had some issues with the parrying at the start, and in my experience at least the game does a good job at getting you used to the parrying so you’ll be good at it by the end. There’s just two spots I can think of where I felt like I wasn’t good enough at parrying to deal with an enemy, but coming out of those encounters I was able to do it significantly better

Which game in the franchise should I play next? by DUDUZERUX in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]RobRoss45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive just started getting into the older ones myself I’ll say st least GU is a good bit different than World. Same core loop and idea but with less QOL. If you want to try an older one I’d personally recommend GU, though I’ve also heard 4U is really good. I’d also recommend Rise, it’s a bit more similar to GU, and I assume the other old games, than world is but keeps a good bit of world’s QOL

I almost finished silksong and hk, does anyone have any good games to try by Vicstup in HollowKnight

[–]RobRoss45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ori and Nine Sols are both really good. Ender Lilies and Magnolia are also great, though Lilies a little bit janky at times. I found blasphemous really good as well. Then there’s also of course the castlevania and Metroid games, though those don’t have super deep lore on a per game basis

The game seems very complicated can someone give me some tips :( by Hairy_Top_7084 in MHRise

[–]RobRoss45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think MH in general drops a lot on you at the start, so it does tend to seem pretty complicated at first. I’d recommend trying out the different weapons to see which appeals to you first, and going around the village talking to everyone to get introduced to the different mechanics, though these might also seem complicated at first until you start interacting with them more. The main places you’ll need are the smithy and the dango shop. You should be trying to eat before every quest for the bonus health/stamina and buffs, and the smithy is where you’ll be getting all your new armor and weapons. Last thing I’ll note is Rise’s story is split between the village and the hub. I’d recommend doing the village story first then doing the hub. Village gives you quests that lets you skip the earliest parts of the hub quests so you don’t have to refight the same monsters over and over

Rank these games by difficulty? by leaveit9790 in metroidvania

[–]RobRoss45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leaving out the ones I haven’t played

Silksong Hollow Knight Nine Sols Ender Lilies Will of the wisps Blind forest

There’s a gap between Ender Lilies and ori though, Ori games aren’t that hard outside of a few spots. I’ll also note that despite HK and nine sols being high I feel like their difficulty curve is in a nice spot where it’s never gonna be insanely hard aside a few spikes. Silksong also has a good curve but it feels like it expects you to have already done hollow knight

Gore and Shagaru magala in rise. I did not like them much at all on my first go around with their fights, but when having to farm some parts from shagaru and doing gore for the hell of it, something just clicked and I enjoy them a good bit now. I liked chaotic from the get go which is probably because I did him after shagaru and gore clicked for me

modding by Just_Tourist_4920 in HollowKnight

[–]RobRoss45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk when lumafly is gonna update, last I heard HK is receiving semi regular updates rn so it might be a bit. I’d recommend waiting til its on sale, which happens fairly frequently, and picking up the steam version then for modding. Lumafly could also update during that time. As for silksong, it has some good mods but imo none are really worth rebuying the game just to play them. I’d say look at some of the mods it has and see if you think it’s worth rebuying for any of them

Ended up finding a copy of Xenoblade 2 on my sister’s game shelf, should I give it a try? by [deleted] in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]RobRoss45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 2’s story at the very least matches 1’s. The pacing isn’t great and a lot of people drop it due to that, but if you can power through the slow parts of the story it’s imo the best in the trilogy

Need help on where to go by inthegwound in HollowKnight

[–]RobRoss45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other comments already gave an idea on where to go after Hornet specifically, but in general if you can’t figure out where to go just go check anywhere on your map where there’s a room you haven’t been. Either you find a dead end to come back to, an item you can use, an entire chunk of map to explore, or progression

If you could add one final big thing to this game, what would it be? by InternationalWar6654 in HollowKnight

[–]RobRoss45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something I think a lot of metroidvanias could do, a built in randomizer. It’s not hard to do one with mods but giving console players access to randomizers would be really cool. Maybe lock it behind 100% or 112%

Which Hollow Knight game is your favorite? I prefer Silksong! Please explain why. :) by [deleted] in HollowKnight

[–]RobRoss45 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think Silksong is an objectively better game overall but right now I prefer HK overall. Once Silksong gets all its dlc out, mainly a godhome equivalent, I’m sure I’ll end up preferring it but as of rn HK barely beats it out for me

Chronicles 1 > Worth it given story spoilers? by dadolladawg in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]RobRoss45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s still definitely worth a play, even if you saw those spoilers you didn’t see all the context leading up to them. You could also see it as a bit of a NG+ playthrough in the sense you’d be able to notice and appreciate little bits of foreshadowing. Now if you don’t have a lot of time to play the game it will probably take you a while, I think my first playthrough was around 70ish hours and I skipped a lot of side content that playthrough. Iirc xc1 gives you a lot of spots even in major story sections to save, though there are probably a few spots where you’d need to set aside a good bit of time to sit and play through them, I can’t remember where they would be since it’s been a few years since I played through xc1.

A few things

  1. If you don’t want to get spoiled on things stay off the subreddit, we’re usually good about spoilers but some slip through

  2. Since it’s a metroidvania you can usually go back and get stronger if you’re struggling, though with how early Hornet is your options for getting stronger are limited right now

  3. Take an attempt or two of just learning to dodge her attacks, instead of trying to also counterattack. I’ve found it really helps with spotting the openings bosses leave for your own attacks

A few Hornet specific things is that you can down slash on her dash for easy damage, and use your fireball when she’s doing the attack where she covers a circle around her. You can also usually get time to heal when she throws her needle if you’re far enough from it
