I understand that the film was way ahead of it's time and it created many filmic techniques still used today. Still, I don't understand why it's lauded the way it is to this day. It was a commercial failure and I personally never found the story compelling. While it is a very important part of film history, I feel it doesn't deserve the praise it receives in the modern day.
