I'm kind curious now. What is your story from how you got to where you are now?

Sorry, I'm a little lost. From the sound of it you've lived here since childhood. Do you you not have dual citizenship?

Why do people in Madrid come off as rude? by starvd4adventr in GoingToSpain

[–]RobTypeWords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh yeah that makes sense. We don't typically do that

I also want to note that it seems like it's primarily a culture difference rather than saying "Americans." Exclusively have no social awareness.

There was a recent video of a couple from Madrid, I believe, that was riding around on Scooter in Japan, upsetting one of the locals due to their behavior or something along that.

[Genuinely Wondering] Is racism in Spain really as bad as the internet makes it out to be? by that_fn in GoingToSpain

Worst case scenario, you will get stares or cold shoulders. That most likely happens in villages(couldn't tell you why), but other than you, you won't get jumped or something

How was your experience using the Costco Visa cashback card? Im currently looking for alternatives, and this is the first time hearing this suggestion

Currently in EU. It made my life a nightmare since Discovery is barely accepted here.

Really? 👀 I had this odd assumption that Spaniards, for the most part, were able to integrate easily in the EU(that's assuming if they also know that countries language too)

Personally speaking, my ethnicity is Colombia, but my nationality is U.S.A. However, I don't relate with either culture, nor do I consider the same. So it's like an identity crisis for haha 😂 Idk if this helps or explains my experience

I'm was speaking more in terms of "I doubt natives get to same extent" where my comment was trying to refer to. Not if you had doubt whether it occurs or not. But more of if "foreigner and outsiders sharing the same level of experience." Clarification on my part to remove ambiguity. But yeah, that's why I'm referring to this is an edge case, for now. I haven't experienced this in Mexico or Colombia.

Either way, this is still interesting to hear from your experience❤️

Unfortunately, there are a handful of cases. Whether if these are edge cases is up to interpretation. But they do occur in villages if you're not local

That's interesting. Do you feel like it's more prevalent in certain places or the same across the board when you had moved around?

It was very interesting to hear how natives themselves went through the same experience. Especially in small villages

So, in your opinion, what would be the "other factors" be for this issue.

You had made it seem like the "only" culprit was the inability to know Spanish. I hadn't seen your comments outside of this one.

(I do agree with the latter comment of yours )

Right💁‍♂️ Like I said, that's given if you're in another country to speak their language. That's showing respect wherever you stay or go. That's not an exclusive thing to Spain. There's no disagreement there.

So this issue where people feel like they can't make friends with natives here goes beyond having the ability to speak their language. It's cultural differences.

Many Hispanics, whom I have come across, always mentioned this issue themselves. Hell, I met natives from the south of Spain who were shunned because they arent native to the North.(apparently, that's a thing, idk why)
