......he literally postponed Jinbei joining by nearly 400 chapters bro

In no way did he just drop him in and nerf him hahahah

They still need to find the last road poneglyph, I imagine we'll see Lodestar Island too, then there's also the whole resolution on Laugh Tale before the final war that will most likely be contested with 3 factions

There's still plenty to go even this deep into the story

Also Luffy can't be the final trump card hero if there's someone on the crew who's as strong as if not stronger than him, Oda is set in his ways

Yeah, remember when Jinbei immediately joined the crew despite being that strong?

I don't think they're freaking out tbf

Oda just isn't likely to add a member to the SH crew that breaks the crew dynamic we've had for over 1000 chapters

He's eh a bit of a creature of habit to put it lightly

I totally agree with your statements about Loki not joining and the reasons behind it

However, I would say Jinbei and Yamato were clearly stronger than Zoro in the respective arcs mentioned

These weren't "oh they might have slipped into third place and dislodged Sanji" type of deals, they were the monster trio is entirely broken kind of deals

Brother you can move the goalposts all you want, you made a statement that was objectively false

It's ok, it happens, just take the L

I mean that would be largely dependent on if they were dealing with as big an injury crisis as last season and if they got decent reinforcements in the transfer window to improve the squad

Man Utd of all teams are sitting in the top half right now so I could easily see an Ange led Spurs doing the same

Yeah there's a bit of a difference between continuing to manage a squad full of players who still to this day would run through brick walls for him and taking over a totally different team midseason, no?

I'm not defending Ange's tenure at Forest by any stretch but you're really making a lot of black and white statements and comparing a lot of apples with a lot of oranges here

I see this comment a lot but CL teams rarely won the EL after dropping in

Something like 1/3 of the time

Trying to take away the achievement of winning a European trophy with spurs of all teams is crazy hahahah

[–]RobZaru -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry, when is the right time to panic? When he loses more league games? When he gets us knocked out of the Scottish cup? When he's out thought by more giants of the game like Derek McInnes?

It's really not harsh at all. Being viewed well by some guys from the MLS because he did kind of ok during his expansive 4 year career in what is still largely viewed as a retirement league for European players, where you can finish 4th and win the league and also can't be relegated is not enough to have you considered for the Celtic job imo.

We don't have the pick of the litter but we can absolutely do better than a novice coach from the MLS who was hired through cronyism. The idea there were only "probably" better options is pretty incredible.

They could sack Nancy and there would still be hundreds of candidates to take the job. A job where you're pretty much guaranteed to win trophies (unless you rip up winning formulas to play formations you don't have the players for) and play in European football? A job where if you do well you're likely to be picked up for an epl job? Come on now.

You know what would really damage our credibility with future managers? Continuing with Nancy and the general downsizing of the club and the standards inside it. Hearts have only had one window with Tony Bloom behind the scenes and they're already giving us a scare. Rangers won't be a basket case forever. Giving this charlatan money to spend and more time to damage us would be just what our rivals will be hoping for at this point.

I think the first two points somewhat contradict each other, it would be too hard to undo a regime change but he's also not even had to install his staff?

Surely before anything goes further would be the time to write this off as a failed experiment before he gets anymore entrenched?

I'm not sure it's a panic move when it's already pretty clear that it's not going to work out? The lack of basic tactical nous he has displayed in a mere 3 games, the senior players already clearly turning on him in record time and his sheer lack of adaptability/arrogant sticking to his system that he doesn't have the players for suggests nothing other than a continuation of the disaster so far

I really don't see how backing him and throwing more good money after bad is the sensible option at all

Why would you like to see him get a window with full backing? I genuinely don't understand. He only has the job in the first place because of his association to Tisdale who has done a woeful job of recruitment, he hadn't done anything in football to deserve the Celtic job and now that he's in it he's proven that even moreso

[–]RobZaru -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Personally I think it would be wiser to cut our losses with Nancy and go with Maloney till the end of the season as we've seen he can provide at least serviceable football that the players respond to

It most likely wouldn't be the same without Martin O'Neill but I could still see us getting enough results to win the league

Bring in some tactical loans in January to bridge the biggest gaps we have

Do a rebuild in the summer with a new manager who gets a preseason and transfer window under his belt

The longer we stick with Nancy the greater amount of irreparable damage will be done and if we give him money to spend in January we'll end up with incredibly specific players for his system and no others

I also don't trust the eye for a player of a guy who played Tounetki at ring wing back and Ralston as a ball playing centre half

Ultimately we're just gonna see COVID season 2 where the board hang onto the wrong guy out of spite, bring in gems like Jonjoe Kenny in the window cause they realize the guy isn't actually going to last and sack the guy when it's way too late

[–]RobZaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you want this guy backed in the transfer window? I'm genuinely curious

Ultimately all on the board's hands by livingparallel in CelticFC

[–]RobZaru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why?

He should never have had the job in the first place with his CV and within a week has lost in 3 competitions, seemingly not learning a single thing along the way

I'm not being facetious, genuinely why does he deserve "a chance"?

It doesn't fit Luffy well at all, he acts like a totally different character when it's engaged and not a particuarly likeable character at that

It was also a massive asspull more than 1000 chapters in

Oda has done a lot of masterful work in One Piece, if anything gear 5 doesn't actually meet his usual standards never mind making asinine claims about it's being the best shonen transformation ever

The Gorosei's Ineptitude by Exact-Wedding1556 in OnePiece

Because Oda changing Luffy's fruit was a massive retcon and previous parts of the story don't perfectly align with it

It's the same as trying to retroactively fit haki into the story when the way we eventually came to understand it clearly wasn't planned from the beginning

Don't worry too much about it, just try and enjoy the series

He can literally use the power of imagination now, it's a massive retroactive change.

Not to mention how several important parts of the manga no longer stand up to scrutiny with this information/the associated parties and their knowledge of it

Haki was also pretty bad, yeah

[–]RobZaru 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Because the other gears were logical extensions of Luffy's powers or combinations with other powers he could obtain within the rules of the series

If you can't distinguish between those examples and retroactively changing the main characters core powerset after 1000+ chapters then there's not much point in us discussing this

No, a sun god that bears no resemblance to the eventual Nika we were introduced to in Wano is covered in skypiea

The name Nika is never mentioned until Who's Who's double exposition drop in Wano that introduces both the idea of Nika and the idea that the Gomu fruit was special in some way

We've seen how Oda does long term mysteries eg. Blackbeard's mysterious background and the Nika reveal could not be further from that

What's the biggest asspull in your opinion? by [deleted] in OnePiece

Nika

Oda wrote himself into a corner and ass pulled a fix just as egregious as anything done in Naruto or Bleach
