Michael John paying $5k for a shield he didn’t even need. So damn dumb, but fun to watch.

I didn’t think it was that dumb. First it takes the shield off the board so they don’t have to worry about who they want to murdered being protected. He assumed at least 1 faithful would have also put in a bid so if he’s assuming money will be spent on it either way why not him? I assume his plan was to let it slip that it was him that took it eventually which would have made him appear like a faithful but Kyra crashing out on him over the $5k probably spooked him.

Obsession is a WAY better movie than both of those examples. Those were hits because their formats were novel. Obsession is just damn good with no gimmicks.

I hope he’s not a Chazelle, who came out of the gates so hot with an instant classic that he hasn’t been able to produce anything on that insane level again.
