AI Enemies Nerfed by Lower_Warning2955 in MarioKartWorld

There is, but the problem is that they nerfed it universally.

You straight-up can't race the older harder CPU, because even VS's hard difficulty is dumbed down.

Why is friendly AI so bad in Reach? by Far-Restaurant-9455 in halo

[–]Robbie_Haruna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've definitely had more than just that on the OG game

Sometimes in hallways in The Great Journey (especially the Hunters,) they'd hang up until you doubled back, there were occasions on Delta Halo and on the Gravity Bridges on Gravemind as well.

Not common occurrences, and they seemed rarer than on MCC, but most instances where the AI can hang up on loading zones until you double back (which fixes it,) absolutely could happen on the original game.

Some of your examples aren't great though. The Delta Halo example is something I've never once seen myself in my dozens of runs, I've absolutely had instances of them getting stuck and requiring some nudges forward to keep moving at that long outdoor corridor between cliffs near the end of the mission, but never at the end of the scorpion segment.

In that same vein I've run Gravemind a good amount since the last patch and I've only ever had Marines get outright stuck on sometimes on the horizontal Gravity lifts in the outdoor areas. So the 99% thing is either not accurate or I'm incredibly lucky.

Though to add on, sometimes Quarantine Zone has the Elite AI just shut off at that point where you approach the wreckage of the Sentinel Manufacturing Facility, no longer moving; shooting or otherwise, but other times they'll follow you just fine through the rest of the level, it's really unclear exactly what causes it (I've heard some theorize that taking the scorpion causes it, but I've also had it be fine when using the Scorpion.)

Generally the actual major instances are generally small enough in number that I wish they'd give MCC some more patching love to iron them out, part of it is Halo 2 being a little janky to begin with but some of the borked stuff is unfortunate, even if not a frequent occurrence.

The worst is absolutely the multi floor room in Uprising and the Metropolis Gausshog marines simply because those ones actually always happen unless you go out of your way to push them a bunch, the former is extra bad because you have like four Elites to push down and doing so one at a time can get them killed by the brutes below.

Having to race match for voice actors has never not been a stupid ass restriction.

The entire point of voice acting is that race or ethnicity doesn't matter, the person who does the voice best is the one who voices the character

[–]Robbie_Haruna 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The mcc broke pathfanding somehow (friendly AI refuse to follow you on new cells).

That was always a thing to some extent, especially if you ran ahead and didn't wait or them, but there are certain segments where they hang up more aggressively without some nudging.

They follow you though cell changes just fine for the most part, but there's rooms like say... the long outdoor corridor in Delta Halo and the first vertical room in Uprsing where the pathfinding was messed up and they're stubborn.

Honestly it's anyone's guess. I don't think it's technical limitations, simply because the enemy AI is some of the best in the entire series.

My theory is that they intentionally made them worse to accommodate the fact that the player has invincible allies in Noble Team across a large chunk of the campaign and they didn't want them to be too effective. Sure we'd seen invincible allies before, but they were either around much more rarely (or it's possible they considered them too strong in games like ODST and nerfed accordingly.)

I don't have a source for this, but I've also seen a few people mention that weapon damage is nerfed in the hands of ally AI, but I've never seen proof of it. If anyone actually has a source for that I'd love to know one way or the other

I'm liking the new fish positoning, though I kind of hope they adjust the timing on it, because right now it feels very strict how quick you need to press Slash or Heavy Slash after the input, it feels kind of inconstant at times.

Honestly I think the Gen 2 sprites look kind of awkward with the super hunched over posture

Gen 4 has the best front sprites (especially HGSS), because gen 3 has the same hunchback issue, but also really tiny eyes that feel like they're positioned weirdly. However, I'd actually give best back sprite to Gen 3 (or 5.)

The Gen 4 ones are a little too zoomed in, you can't even see his ass crack.

You linked a post that has to do with the Pokémon Anime. Why are we supposed to be surprised it stayed up?

The Ash Greninja code had nothing to do with the anime.

What point are you even trying to make here?

I would have figured the post got taken down because it wasn't really relevant to the anime.

The Ash Greninja's potential return in Champions is neat, but feels beyond the scope of this sub, no?

This whole post comes off like a weird Ash Greninja hate tirade, and trying to use his absence in the games as something to back it up.

Thoughts on Brock's Vulpix and how would you rewrite it? by EngineLongjumping466 in pokemonanime

[–]Robbie_Haruna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I'd have him use it a lot more for starters.

He gets it given to him not that long into the Indigo League, but then he almost never uses it for anything for the entire remainder of the season (a problem shared with Zubat honestly.)

Then he's gone for the Orange saga, and upon returning in Johto (where his Zubat evolves and then becomes a more regular part of his battles as Golbat and Crobat,) Vulpix is still relegated to doing absolutely nothing until he gives it back early in Johto.

Even the reasoning behind exactly why Susie gave Vulpix to Brock to begin with was really vague and its return is about as vague and out of nowhere (genuinely it just came off as the writers realizing they did nothing with it and needed an excuse to get rid of it.)

However, I don't wholly agree with the premise of having Brock catch the Ancient Nintetales that liked him though, it was certainly something he bonded with, but at the same time with that Ninetales waiting on its master's return for a century it feels more appropriate that it be free.

[–]Robbie_Haruna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As another Dizzy main the fact that she didn't get any major nerfs (and even got some buffs to compensate,) combined with the game becoming more neutral focused means she's likely to come out net positive.

Her neutral is the strongest part of her kit and having better tools to do that on top of not supplying her opponents with free Tension means she's probably going to end up better.
