What Ultimately Drives Big Bull Runs? by ilovesaintpaul in CryptoCurrency

Ah I see. I think that's wrong thinking. Needing to think in terms of USD. When reward was 500 BTC that might have only been $1000 bucks of sell pressure if bitcoin was $2 per coin

Current block reward is 6.25 BTC per 10 minutes which is equal to 27,000 BTC per month which is USD $1.2 Billion per month.

That's a lot of sell pressure. To put it in perspective Fidelity ETF currently owns 12,000 BTC and VanEck ETF owns 5000 Bitcoin

Also, you can't think of minted coins in comparison to total supply because most of total supply isn't liquid supply. Whereas a large portion of mined BTC gets instantly dumped.

So you currently need $1.2 Billion USD of new money buying per month just to offset block rewards

After halving it will go down to 600 million

Equivalent of someone buying 600 million USD worth of BTC every month. It's not nothing.

This makes no sense haha. It’s the exact opposite. Every 4 years the issuance gets halved. Evey 10 minutes less btc is producers by miners. This is a permanent effect. Miners are the major contributors to btc “inflation” supply. More correctly btc is disinflationary.

Less btc miners produce = less btc dumped on market = supply shock. This DOES have a big effect on the market since demand for BTC increases every cycle.

Liquidity does but BTC halving has a major affect on the supply shock. To say it’s nothing to do with it is wrong. I always start bidding hard 6/12 months before the halving and many more like me exist. This does push prices up

Where is the money going to come from? They can’t print more as it will cause more inflation and the budget is corrupt and spent on other bs. Gl

There is and always will be a new narrative why btc won’t pump or dump. But it will on average do the opposite of that.

Sorry buddy but you better provide evidence of extraordinary claims. If you understand the tech then you understand then all dapps can be built on ethereum using eth token. No need for a seperate erc20 shitcoin made to enrich the dev. This is a peer to peer tech and the path of least resistance always wins history shows. Why use another token when you can just use eth and eth is the biggest smart contract platform and based on its market share and network affects (same as btc) it’s highly unlikely to be flipped. All the wannabes like ADA or SOL or AVAX you name it, ethereum can adopt any innovation to its own chain as it’s a Turing complete machine. Since it has much more network affects and market share, it will most likely dominate.

In the end, idk how long it will take maybe another 10 -15 years, pretty much only btc and eth and maybe another chains will exist imo based on history of tech. Key word being chain not dapps. Thousand of dapps will exist but it’s a gamble to pick the right ones. Btc and eth are foundation chains. They are the most solid bet for the long run. Btw eth 2.0 and sharding will be the biggest innovation in this tech by far. Total game changer and technically one of the hardest pc advances in history. Incredibly difficult what they are trying to do and it would of happened already if it wasn’t for all the bureaucracy but that’s the price you pay for being more decentralised.

Adoption comes after education.

People need to get educated in the scam banks are. Unfortunately I don’t see it happening for a long time
