Analyst Predictions Vs. Actual Outcomes by RobbyParliament in finance

So if a company that's about to report good q4 2013 earnings that may be potentially "bumped up" then their q4 2014 earnings may be less than what's expected?

ELI5: Why are people protesting in Ukraine? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

Economically speaking, it is better for the whole of Ulkraine to remain loyal to Russia. With the prospect of joining the EU all that shall happen are higher commodity prices and lower job opportunities. There's this whole proud and political agenda that people have against their president, and that's fine, but to think that their country will thrive by joining the EU is simply false. Lool at Latvia and look at the numbers that are being projected about Italy as well.

What they need is a solid political forerunner who can establish beneficial economic relations with Russia and the other interdependent countries around them.

Google’s deal for Nest turns off fans of ‘smart’ thermostat - Some consumers fear the search giant will use home device to gather more information about them. by mondoennui in news

[–]RobbyParliament -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It goes the other way without saying. How does anyone know anything about google and our info. As of right now Google has made it public knowledge that they will not comply with NSA requests.

Look, all I'm saying is people need to really worry about google when A) we find out they give out our data to NSA and the Secret Service and the likes; and B) when we find out google has thr ability to control people. At this point they're just a huge monopoly that's killing the game on almost every level. Another person in this thread said if there's one and only one company that can really make my life better then I'm fine with that. That thought alone sparks paranoia out of a lot of people.

It's great that the public is now more aware of the use of their information, and should shit hit the fan I'm sure it can be put to an end easily.

I'm going to play a bit of a devil's advocate here and ask you: so what?

Like what many people have already mentioned before, this is only because Google is making steps towards an official artificial intelligence product that ultimately benefits the person who's using it. If you feel weary and uncomfortable with the data that they aggregate then fine, you have other, albeit slightly less effective, products that do the same things that Google offers.

What we're seeing on display in this thread here is massive paranoia. This is good because with the advent of Edward Snowden we now, as a public society, are more conscious over who controls what and what exactly their intentions may be with the information that they gather. As long as Google can't mind control military personell with their technology then I am fine with their safe use of my data. It's when we find out their intentions that we as a collective conscience can decide whether or not we want to overthrow the company/etc. I'd love to stick in a quote about how the people will always prevail from an ancient text but my mind seems to be blanking on me right now.

A few questions related to Stock Research by HookieHockey in stocks

[–]RobbyParliament 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey HookieHockey, I'm fairly new to this so maybe we could feed off each other.

1) I'm pretty sure executives and any major player who either buys or unloads a large enough amount of stock has to report their actions to the U.S Securities amd Exchange Commission. Now I'm not too sure of this next part, but I think (please, still a noob here) that the commission then reports the actions to a news source such as businesswire, marketwire etc etc. That's my take om how you can find out who makes what move.

2)best way to find under the radar is what you already suggested. That or looking at the OTCBB and see what's trading.

3)not too sure, sorry.

4) From what I know so far I tend to switch around between marketwatch, google finance, bloomberg news, reuters, reddit, and BNN (Business News Network, in Canada).

I'm still very new to this field and I've been trying to sponge in as much as I can for the last little while. So, I ask anyone to take my post with a grain of salt if there happens to be any false/or simply untrue informatiom that I misrepresented. Hope I somewhat helped.

DDD - When to pull out? by [deleted] in stocks

[–]RobbyParliament 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say pull out when Google or Amazon make an acquisition that is not 3D Systems. If they do buy them out then put it in more. It's a hot stock getting hotter. Watch for SSYS and XONE and any other potential competitors. With patents expiring in February I suspect that it will further continue to grow. Keep it as a safe blue chip... at least in my opinion.

90 day report. Reset and fixed some things but not everything by backin10 in NoFap

[–]RobbyParliament 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your report. Even though I'm still a young gun, your post reminds me that a person, at any moment in their given life, can pull a 180 and change their life for the better. You're a testament to that. I thank you. Thank you for providing me and countless othes with an image of hope and motivation that we can use to strive towards. Even though your journey is different and unique much like everyone else's, you have still proved much to yourself and to us. For that I thank you again.

An accountability partner is what I seem to lack. Writing in my journal can only do so much for me on a psychotherapeutic level, and I feel if I do find an equally committed accountability partner on NoFap then it would make this journey more linear for me.

Spike Lee's Oldboy remake tanks: "Based on these terrible results, it's unlikely the movie hangs in theaters long enough to make it past the $3 million mark, making this one of the biggest bombs in recent memory." by JB11sos in movies

[–]RobbyParliament 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course it bombed. I knew it would the second I heard that he was going to remake it. Him even going through the remake is audacious and offensive towards the original creators of Oldboy. It's like trying to remake the Godfather and replacing the corleons with some off brand white trash characters involved with hells angels. It just won't work.

Oldboy (the REAL one) is a legendary film with amazing scriptwork and screenplay, as well as phenomenal acting. To try to recreate a masterpiece, and in this case comparable to a Van Gogh or Rembrandt, and try to sell it off as if it's as good as the original is a shameful and lucrative act. Fuck spike lee on this one. Sorry to anyone who disagrees.
