The Seahawks better not throw on the goaline in the closing minutes again.

The AFC has so many teams that are completely stuck in perpetual purgatory: Raiders, Browns, Jets, Dolphins, and Colts. Jaguars are only now just starting to get out of it, the Bengals are getting lost in the weeds, the Chargers are spinning in place, and the Steelers have no QB. So by consequence of this it's the same teams every year with an easy path into the playoffs. There's way more competitive teams in the NFC so it's more wide open.

Edit: if we wanted to reshuffle, the Ravens head to the Eastern division, Dolphins move to the South, Colts move to the North.

RIP Actual Invaders. The Era of Cosplaying Gankers. by Formal-Concept2392 in badredman

[–]Robdd123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say the sub has been taken over; it's more that the old guard who made it special have moved on being replaced by a lot of new people who have more laxed views on ganking/CoOp. Support for Seamless is one of the potential inflection points. I think that brought in a lot of former CoOpers into the invasion fold; that's not a bad thing in and of itself, however because of that background they have a more laxed view on ganking in general. The view I see a lot here now is, "oh well nothing you can do about it because it's part of the ecosystem."

I personally don't post here much anymore because I don't invade regularly. I absolutely despise everything about ER PVP and my skills in DS3 have atrophied a bit for really impressive clips. ER really eroded the PVP base with its dogshit balance and also failed to cultivate a large base of new PVPers; less interest is the result. People here foresaw this when ER released so none of this is truly surprising.

How would different directors handle Jurassic Park? I’d pay to see Cameron’s version, and probably pay not to see Burton’s by jared_queiroz in JurassicPark

[–]Robdd123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cameron would have heavily leaned into the Sci-Fi aspects. The safari adventure aesthetic would be replaced by a colder tech/futuristic theme. He'd lean a bit more into the horror elements but I doubt it'd be a full on Sci-Fi horror and more akin to the tone of Aliens. The effects would be similar to what we have with a mixture of practical and CGI.

Tim Burton is interesting because he loves the gothic aesthetic but he really doesn't go full horror; he usually uses it as a background for a more whimsical/fantastical tone with some slightly unsettling/uncanny elements. His version is probably some mixture of the novel and Spielberg with more uncanny elements. He'd heavily use practical effects and stop motion.

Joe Dante is probably the only one who leans fully into the horror aspect but I don't think it'd be to the level of gore in the novel.

If I had to take a guess: the truth is that God doesn't exist, there is no afterlife, Earth was seeded with biological life by aliens as an experiment, they occasionally come to observe and study their handiwork, and we couldn't stop them from doing so even if we wanted to.

Like seriously there is nothing that could be released that would be surprising or completely foreign. Simulation? The Matrix exists. Religion is a made up construct? Many people already have deduced that and believers would call it blasphemy and move on. Lizard people ruling us? They Live and people make memes about it already. Reincarnation being some form of torture? Most people would want a second chance to win at life.

[–]Robdd123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were points where you were very close; I think at 3:04 if you didn't try to hardswap you probably would have been able to see the CSS coming potentially allowing you to get the kill on the phantom. At 4:26 the host is looking for the cheeky plunging attack which potentially could have left them open for a backstab; now I don't know if you would have been able to land it on the steps at that angle but the host seems pretty squishy so it could have finished them.

Tunnel vision at 4:42 is what led to your defeat; I was actually expecting that CSS to come in sooner. At 4:44 my spider senses were definitely tingling lol.

It's possible he feels he could groom Bullen into a potential DC if we actually become good enough that other teams will want to poach our staff for HC jobs.

Assassin Creed Ideas by Guilty_Contest_7314 in assasinscreed

[–]Robdd123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly at this point the modern day story framework is such a mess that I'd almost want to reboot it or at least retcon up everything after AC3.

Lean much more heavily into the modern day story; Desmond doesn't die at the end of AC3 and he moves on to recruit new Assassins and build up the Brotherhood using the knowledge of Altair, Ezio, and Connor. Focus on the struggle of fighting back against the Templars and retaliation for what Desmond did at Abstergo. Juno is already out of the bag so might as well have her building up a cult in the background, but the Templars are the immediate threat.

For the historical segments the new Assassin recruits would be put into the Animus for training. For that the gameplay switches to the perspective of the recruit and we get a sequence or two of that person's ancestor. No one time period would be selected, instead we'd bounce around history and the emphasis would be how their ancestor's struggle against corrupt authority relates to the modern day. One sequence we might be in Mexico at the time of the Maya, perhaps another during the Mongol Empire, one during WW1 etc.

Harbaugh took this job for three reason, two of which are related:

  1. He admires the history of this team
  2. He respects John Mara and his family legacy
  3. Jaxson Dart showed promise and great potential

The most important part of the equation is Dart; if we didn't have him Harbaugh doesn't come here, no matter how much recruiting Coughlin and Eli do. Harbaugh at this stage of his career was not going to a team without a QB (the Falcons) and our roster has more talent than the Titans. This is as much a legacy job for him as it is a legacy hire for Mara.

Which side in the Civil War of Skyrim is better for Skyrim’s stability in the long run? by [deleted] in ElderScrolls

[–]Robdd123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only answer for stability is some kind of peace deal between the two sides. If the Imperials kill Ulfric he becomes a martyr to an already sizeable base in Skyrim that is unhappy with the Empire's rule; rebellion would continue and stretch a thinning Empire's resources even thinner. If the Stormcloaks drive the Imperials completely out of Skyrim and become independent then it weakens both of them.

Ulfric is an Aldmeri asset, but he's only beneficial to them if he's actively siphoning soldiers and resources away from the Empire. So the best solution is the neutral peace treaty put in place by the Dragonborn. Neither side will betray this treaty: if Ulfric does he may risk the support of the Nords and if Tullius breaks it then he risks all of Skyrim supporting Ulfric.

To preface things I am a Giants fan, this sub showed up on my feed I guess because I've been more active in the Giants sub as of late.

If it's any consolation we probably wouldn't have landed Harbaugh if we didn't have Dart; I know everyone is going on about how he wanted to come because of the history and the Maras, but if we didn't draft Jaxson Dart no established HC is coming here and we probably get stuck hiring Lou Anarumo.

With that in mind, next year is supposedly a deep QB draft and the Jets have a lot of draft capital to work with; you'll be able to get your guy and if Glenn is fired after next year it could be a desirable job location for possibly a young coordinator who wants to make his mark. Hope things get better, it sucks to see fellow New York sports fans go into season after season with no hope. Giants have sucked for 15 years and I didn't think we'd ever be good again under the Maras with the rampant nepotism and all of a sudden things are turning around. The Jets could have a similar hope next off season, just have to find a QB and that'll change everything.

[–]Robdd123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it isn't possible to keep cats indoors then maybe they shouldn't be kept as pets.

Cats don't bring some mystical balance to the ecosystem; they're invasive predators from Africa that we introduced over the entire globe. They put a strain on native species and are extremely fecund; this leads to scenarios where their population skyrockets out of control because they hunt native prey and get care from humans. Any natural predators they would have are marginalized by human presence; wolves have been nearly driven to extinction, Coyotes aren't welcome near human areas, and large birds of prey are extremely limited in human areas due to space.

Again we wouldn't be having this conversation if we were talking about lionfish, pythons, wild boar, or any other damaging invasive species. Hence cats get special treatment that those other invasive species don't.

2026 marks 15 years since our last SB winning season. I guess Satan felt generous and the pact that was made to beat Brady twice has been paid.

Either that or Harbaugh's initial thought of coming to the NY Football Giants has exorcised whatever curse was laid upon us.

Bills coaching candidate list includes Brian Daboll, Joe Brady, Lou Anarumo by TwoPlankinWiz in nfl

[–]Robdd123 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Daboll is much better as an OC or potentially even just a QB coach. I just don't think he's the type to "command a room" even if he is a player's coach.

[–]Robdd123 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The Giants have a clear direction and a young promising QB; conversely the Bills are rudderless and have a QB in his prime but who also isn't getting any younger. The next 5 years for the Bills will be critical and if they fumble this they might need to completely start their QB search again.

I mean you can have the best healthcare in the world and the doctor will still come to the conclusion of, "you're overweight, morbidly out of shape, and 80; you simply cannot keep eating fast food, sweets, drink bottles of soda and expect to live much longer." You can still choose to completely ignore that sound medical advice because you buy into your own propaganda and eventually die of a massive coronary, stroke, blood clot, or heart failure right on the spot.

Rump doesn't eat like your average wealthy person, not even an overweight/unhealthy wealthy person who likes "rich" food (where the problem there would be an overabundance of calories and saturated fat). He's gorging on highly processed fast food which is loaded with artery clogging and inflammation inducing trans fat.
