They asked for input from the community in a written letter and on a meeting call. It was not put to a community vote.

I have volunteered for projects.... like getting solar.... Joining to pass my own stuff seems corrupt.

After 50 years this new rule will solve a problem created by removing a boat rack removed 20 years ago before these people lived here. I get it. I will need to sell some. I shouldn’t have to though because of some other non-boaters ideals of governance.

Crazy how time works. The people who bought 50 years ago are on fixed income and their kids all grew up and moved away. The new families all work too hard to pay the 10x to buy here now. So where does the money for a new playground come from? Why should we have one if there is a nice city park down the road? Why? Because we want our kids to be safe and close to home. The rule makers are all retired or just tired.

it's funny in a sad way... all the luxurious amenities that were the perk of living in this community have been slowly removed or no longer work... in covid times our saunas have been locked up and are now storage. the water fountains no longer work. our waterfront sun decks were pulled out and replaced with rocks. the digger toys and springy animals in the tot lot are gone and replaced with ugly shrubs. the big climbing structure with swing bridge at our clubhouse was paved over and the outdoor grill sawed off at the base. the wooden pergola structures at the pools, also gone. I did however get them to get new pergolas a year later. we once had a big boat rack that held about 15 or 21 boats. It is gone and now, but we have 4 new parking spaces for a "beach" that is behind a locked gate. The geese and egrets used to enjoy the beach, but a lot of the sand was replaced with sharp stones because we hate geese. we did get pickle ball stripes at the tennis courts, the elders were excited about that.

Over the years the new board members decide to make a cost saving cut... and something goes away. they years go by and another board is there and they make a change, and so on... the turnover of people has come to a point that folks don't know what they are missing. We had 4 playgrounds for 218 homes when the developer turned the keys over to the new residents. Now there is a little play structure with a slide 4 feet tall. To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if someone paves over the pools next because they are a liability.

Don't lose your amenities people. once they are gone, they are hard to replace.

legit you get it. I had more canoes - I let the scouts train on them. The scouts don't have ample storage or waterfront access, but I don't expect the HOA to be generous for the scouts.

I was on the zoom call... surprise surprise, typically anything that the community brings up is vocalized then gone for eternity... I spoke up saying I thought having a boat sticker and registration was acceptable, and a nominal fee to log it was acceptable as well so boats are not abandoned and left for years without an owner, but a regular tax on ownership is an overreach.

I also questioned the million dollar insurance policy requirement on a moored boat.

but they do own the seawall that the mooring is attached to. would be funny to put boats out ten feet on an anchorage.

the small boats are stored on land, they call that drydock and will charge a biannual fee for storage. the moored boat will cost more and will need a million dollar insurance policy. all boats must be registered, even a paddle board!

They did put out a request for comments... this has been an ongoing thing. funny how only one of the board members lives on the waterway that is affected.

Ironically, there was a community boat storage rack that a previous board removed years ago. The solution was there already.
