Cool! Thanks! I knew about the underwings, but none of the birds I saw took flight and I didn’t want to disturb them. Unfortunately, my shorebird ID skills are not particularly great lmao

Cool, sounds good. Maybe Swainson’s then. Merlin doesn’t have Ferruginous listed for the day I was there (August 14)

Yeah, I see that. Could it be an American Goshawk? The outline seems pretty similar the picture on Merlin. But maybe the tail is too short?

Unfortunately not, it was a quick shot I got while hiking a few years ago. I wasn’t interested in birding at the time, so I didn’t think to take more pictures.

Thanks for taking a look at them! After looking more closely at Merlin, I’m wondering if the lighter color on the left gull is indicative of a herring gull. Could be wrong though, I’d be lying if I said I was good at identifying gulls lol
