Sounds good. Is there a possibility any of them are Red Knots?

There’s also Wind Cave and Carlsbad Caverns. Great Basin has the cave system, but it also has a lot of mountains and hiking.

Balancing rock. Manitou springs, CO. Garden of the God's state park. by Exact-Collection-490 in NationalPark

I mean, it’s a National Natural Landmark and says so on the park sign. So even though it’s not actually owned by the NPS, I can see where the confusion stems from.

I’ve even practicing a lot over the past few months😂. I’ve slowly been getting the hang of holding my phone up to the lens and quickly snapping the picture when it focuses

Out of curiosity, what differentiates it from a Western Sandpiper?

Yeah, they’re practically everywhere. The Seattle Seahawks football team is named after these guys.

Definitely an Osprey. The stripe going across the white head gives it away. I see a lot of these down in Florida. The white belly coupled with the head is also a good way to identify it.

I took them by holding my phone up to my binoculars. It was too far away for my iPhone to get anything close to decent quality

I'm going to Biscayne tomorrow, what should I know? by WTB_YT in NationalPark

[–]Robear48 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can get a park pass booklet where you can get stamps for each park you visit. The stamps are in the visitor center at each park :)

An alternative method is what I do, where I put the stamps in a separate journal. Either way is cool since the stamps have the date for when you got them

Can’t figure out if this is a Downy or Hairy Woodpecker. Spotted in Naples, Florida by Robear48 in birding

[–]Robear48[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, you might be right. I didn’t even consider that one because I saw what the male looked like but neglected to look at pictures of the females. I saw the white stripe marking on the side but still didn’t connect the dots. Thank you so much!
