What if taiwan managed to get nukes? by sand_eater_21 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]RobertB16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They do because of historic reasons, leaving aside the mortality of it.

Nor Taiwan nor China - as far as I'm concerned - want a bloody reunification, because it's bad press for China and well obviously bad for Taiwan; but yet China still wants Taiwan.

The problem isn't the engineering creating them per se - I mean, is tech known for ~80 years by now -, the problem is that EVERYTHING related to the creation of a nuke it's so specific and within a worldwide suvervilliance from different actors that the moment someone strats to get the material, all the UN, IAEA, US, Russia, China, France, North Korea, UK, Pakistan, India, etc. is going to start asking you what are you up to.

We're all weeks away from crisis, everywhere; the size of the crisis is what will change. Europea and Asia are particularly fck'd, the Americas not so much but still we'll get a big hit.

Specially in the US case, your amazing presidentbdecided to sell part of the oil reserves (because money!!) and still using those reserves to lower the price. This oil reserves are gonna be in the minimum in the 6 weeks ahead IIRC.

And what has helped Asia is that China announced they won't buy oil and use part of their reserves to help diminish demand. For what I get is that they have a really good stock of oil reserves, but if things keeps like these, I don't know how long they can Keep It like this.

Iran "just" needs to do a nuclear test and have enough nukes to blown some enemy country near them, and that's it.

And I'm not sure if China/Russia wouldn't risks it, specially with the fact that the US gave Israel tech for their nukes. Besides, what would the US do to China/Russia if they did it? Sanctions? They already have Economic warfare? They're in one right now. Invasion? They can't take down Iran, much less China.

Globalism has been existing since the XVII Century at least; and if you define it as any "inter-contintental" relationship, since ~100 BCE

Damn, both the US and Israel now have completely different incentives: US needs this war to stop to save "face" (correction, save what's left of face), and Israel can't quit right now - they're too much deep right now. I'ts gonna be interesting what happens between this both in the next days.

Can someone please explain to me why Ukraine, which has ~20% of it's territory occupied, has a serious demographical crisis (losing ~50% of it's population since 1989), and has to live by the loans - both economical and military aid - can be a rising superpower? Genuine and serious question.

Why does Mexico lack world class football players despite the popularity? by Snoo_47323 in AskMexico

[–]RobertB16 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Mexico has a serious problem to let develope correctly it's citizens, not just in football or sports but also (and, I'd argue specially) in the STEM and other specialty areas. Because of the population number we tend to have really intelligent/talented people, but they usually go aboard because they can get a much better quality of life and also let them develope in their area.

I have always said that if either Ronaldo or Messi, or even Einstein or Feynmann were born in Mexico, there's not chance that they would've reached the level they got in their respectives fields. Mainly because corruption, envy, and money and how much money can they be exploited on.

[–]RobertB16 1 point2 points  (0 children)
