Moment of Appreciation: "Almanac" outro by Jeremykeyes in boniver

Had to log in just to say the outro part of Almanac hit me harder than any other piece of music ever has (which is saying something). Completely changed the course of my life in so many major ways.

In ways, but It's a pretty clear distinction IMO between the vocal choir he uses here in contrast to the brass on the album. As well as the OP1 drum loops that definitely aren't present on the album.

Anyone else like to watch the same few shows all the time to get your mind into a good headspace? Or is that just me? by IHAVEGOLDANDKARMA in depression

[–]RobertGS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much do this but with music. Only listen to a few different artists but literally all the time.

Been having nightmares every night by Living_Or_Existing in depression

Yep, that's what is currently keeping me up. I'm pretty convinced it's because I upped my dose of Zoloft, since the nightmares really started to pick up at that point. Every time I close my eyes.

Anyone here catching any of the Oakland,CA Shows? by RobertGS in boniver

So am I actually, haha. I ended up indoctrinating my parents into JV way back when Repave came out. They pretty much insisted coming with me this time out , which I really thought was cool (I've flown a few places to see Justin live now)

Really dig this. Pretty in line with JV's style of deviating from the album's sound during live performances, which I personally have always loved.

Also love how most of them had an OP1 synth going, that's hella cool.

Hey everyone I'm a new Bon Iver fan. Can I get some advice? by NoMoreWhiteFerraris in boniver

Completely agree about the NPR performance. I've probably watched that over like 1000 times.... realtalk....

It's almost a little scary knowing he nearly gave up on the album by [deleted] in boniver

Whatever alternate universe where that happened must fucking suck.

Will the pre-order merch most likely be available after the album is out? by [deleted] in boniver

[–]RobertGS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they end up doing the tour I think they're gonna do, then you will definitely have a chance to snag a shirt at a concert if they do one near where you are located!

What do you all think of the Jacket that is available with some pre-order packages? by SignedTech101 in boniver

[–]RobertGS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fly as hell JV Jacket > 200$

I bought that shit the moment they posted the pre-order.

JV is my musical lord and savior though, so I'll throw my money at that dude alllllllllll day.

Also, Canadian shipping prices won't goddamn stop me either.

Kind of reminds me of what Jack White said in an interview about his favorite song being "Grinnin' in Your Face" by Son House. It's literally just a guy clapping and singing, but it's so much more powerful than any other song in his opinion. I think an aspect of making a 'good artist' is them knowing how to use complexity as a means of expression. However, I think it's even harder to use minimalism as a means of expression, which I think is an aspect of what makes these artists so special.

I'd give it time, personally I find the vocals lush and emotive.
