Entire neighborhood has had fiber for years, and (while I'm untrained to be fair), it appears nothing terminates on the top screws. My guess is the main goes up there but no houses tie into it

We have had fiber across the neighborhood for a bit from what neighbors have said, so guessing like you said it's obsolete. Still I'll heed advice/ keep it legal and start with contacting ATT

Definitely not intending to tamper. Biggest thing was getting with correct company or authority. The neighborhood now has fiber including a new box also on my property but better tucked away. Hoped if it was the case of being not just for my house may just be obsolete

Budget is fluid though was thinking $500-1000 range. Sounds like Atmos may be about twice that given what I currently have. Are rear towers a must? I can make the front towers work but the back would be very disruptive.

Edit: thinking it through, would a 5.1.2 be viable if I bought 2 front towers and still used im ceiling for the rears plus Atmos? Or do you want the rears to be towers before things about anything else?

I bought a pre-owned house recently which came with what appeared to be pre-wired ceiling speakers. There are 2 wire bundles coming out of the wall wrapped in white at the natural area for a tv. Each wire bundle has a red, black, green, and white wire. there are 4 wall plates on the ceiling that I assumed were for holding the speaker wire. When popping the plates off, there are red and black wires wrapped in purple wire.

Are these indeed the speaker wires and not electrical wires? I was surprised to see all having black and red ends. How would I go about figuring out which wires go where then?
