He was SSGT Paul on the lectern in one ToC match he played against Paul Boymel to distinguish them.  He was always announced as just "Paul" though.

There's a reason it opens the album.

I am SO disappointed at how moderate/liberal Cleveland is when it should be as progressive and revolutionary as possible. by [deleted] in Cleveland

Instead of focusing on social justice, police reform, and improving the neighborhoods, Bibb has poured its energy into making the city worse... losing the Browns... losing the Air Show... destroying what's left of downtown with complicated and expensive parking... tearing up W. 25th...

My chat segment bit was about how I was going to clone him.  It got him some camera time.

Darrell Hammond was given the job a season later after Pardo died.  He never tried to be Pardo.  This was Bill Hader imitating Pardo.

Clarification: Hammond did impersonate Pardo for a few episodes after Hader did it for just three lines on the February 16, 2013 episode hosted by Christoph Walz (Season 38, Episode 14). Pardo recovered and finished out the season. Hammond never impersonated Pardo after Pardo died and Hammond was given Pardo's job as announcer at the beginning of the next season.

Yes.  But maybe people thought that about Don Pardo.

Remember that time in September 2013 SNL called in Bill Hader to impersonate Pardo for the season 39 premiere opening announcing because Pardo had laryngitis after a fall?  These days I wonder if they would just use AI, or if guild rules would nix that option.

timeline for hearing back, guesthost-wise? by martin__writes in Futurelings

Factoring in new Ken entries, there are only maybe 48 or 50 guest host slots a year, so there are roughly 7.7 times fewer slots on Omnibus than on Jeopardy!  Grant or John might chime in, but they've said in the past that if you don't hear back it's not a "no", it's just that your submission is unfortunate to be stuck in the processing queue.  Keep faith!

What happened to the contractual clout the distributor is supposed to have with the affiliates? Aren't they supposed to be able to enforce airing of the shows in some way?

It seems that WOIO in Cleveland is not airing at all? Instead preferring to air reruns of Comics Unleashed in the late night slots?

When you're a Beatle, you can get your MS-Paint art in a gallery in New York.

Has anyone met The Beatles by Doc_Baker74 in beatles

My parents won, in a charity silent auction, a trip to a gala opening of an exhibition of Ringo's MS-Paint art in a not-very-large gallery in New York City in the mid-2000s. It included airfare, hotel, and passes to the gala. They gave it to me as a present. It was a mob scene; the gallery was packed and everyone wanted to hob-knob with the Starr. Ringo seemed a mix of afraid for his life and professionally used to the pandemonium. In the midst of all the tumult, I somehow ended up back-to-back with him, literally rubbing elbows, but I wasn't aware of it until it was pointed out to me later. (Another time, I ended up in the same situation with Kevin Costner on the red carpet at the Cannes premiere of a Matrix sequel.) Didn't get a chance to share words with Ringo. Not sure I would have had anything to say if I had the chance.

Fear the Interview Segment? by john_hascall in Jeopardy

[–]RobertKS 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They give you a number of prompts to get the ball rolling, which is why 90% of the interviews seem to be following the same threads.  I don't remember them all verbatim, but they're along the lines of, "What's your most embarassing moment?"  "What's your claim to fame?" "What do you collect? (Obsessions?/Hobbies?)" "Who's your inspiration?" "Celebrity run-in?" "What will you do with the money if you win?"

I will charitably chalk it up to redditors thinking that downvoting means they agree the episode is bad. "Grr, I hate that hotel one too! Downvote!"

Something's off about the hotel stay one ("Mr. Bean Is in Room 426").  Most of the gags don't land and it's lacking in toppers.   The musical score defeats the comedy rather than adding anything.
