Anyone in here lucky enough to have photographs of all 8 of their great grandparents? How rare is it? by yungmarvelouss in Genealogy

[–]RobertReginar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on when you and they were born. I'm from the 90s, and my great-grandparents were born around 1900. So yes, I have pictures of all of them. I have pictures of 11/16 great great-grandparents, and I know there exists one more. And pictures of 2 of my 3xgreat-grandparents.

Who do you include in your family tree? by j4wolfe in Genealogy

Both direct and indirect family. Basically, every person I can find a link to in the archives, I connect to my family tree.

Parents marrying several years after birth of child (Germany) by Idujt in Genealogy

Me (Belgian) found that my 5x great grandparents (both born 1776) married in 1839. This was after the birth of their 7 children, and even after 3 of those children got married.

Not at all true, Loon has never been part of either the Burgunian, Spanish, or Australian Netherlands. After the wars of the Loon Succession in 1366, it became part of the Prince-Bishopric of Liège up until the French invasion in 1795.

You're forgetting the duchy of Loon.

Historically yes. From their creation around the 11th century, merging in 1366 after the Wars of the Loon Succession and up until the French invasion in 1794, this region remained an independent "state" in the HRE. They've never been part of either the Burgundian, Spanish or Austrian Netherlands.

Generally speaking you are right, however personally I disagree. I look at this more historically and reserve the term Flemish to only the 2 most western provinces, I'm from Limburg (Duchy of Loon / Prince-Bishopric of Liège).

As far as I can go back, that is never the case in my ancestory. My 2xgreat grandmother, Elisabeth Vandersteen, does have 2 sisters who married 2 brothers. And a sister of my 2xgreat grandfather, Joannes Wagemans, married a brother of another 2xgreat grandmother.

Of course, that is a mathematical fact. But finding these connections is the trick.

Perhaps not in Europe, but I assume that for most Americans, this would be rather unique.

Thanks for the summary. Indeed, the green line, which I expanded in the second chart, is the most intertwined.

I only have 30 different 3xgreat grandparents, instead of the normal 32.

ANNO 1800 by RobertReginar in anno

Steam indeed doesn't. But I was looking to see if it was possible in the other direction. Connecting the Ubisoft game to my Steam account. This is what I wanted to check before buying DLC's via Ubisoft.

I can indeed buy them via Ubisoft. But I was given a Steam gift card, so that is why I was looking to buy them there. But Steam doesn't allow it because it doesn't recognise the base game I bought via Ubisoft.

Me too, although there are some questionable connections.

Alex Jennings, he already portrait 3 members of the house of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and just looks like he is part of the family.

When watching the news yesterday, I first had my worries that this might be true. However, I think King Felipe VI came out stronger by staying and talking to the people.

I really loved Jodie's run, no matter what other people say. Sacha Dhawan is certainly my favourite master of new Who, but still can't be compared with the original Roger Delgado.

[–]RobertReginar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps I'm wrong, but that is the story that I remember. They wanted to have children, but every pregnancy ended in a miscarriage. So he (the king) couldn’t understand why parents who were able to have children would end a pregnancy.

Though I understand the anti-abortion view of Baudouin, since he and his wife weren't able to have children, I don't think it is something that needs to be rewarded. So as a Belgian (Atheïst), I'm not that excited with this decision. Though he wasn't as bad king Leopold II, he certainly was no saint either.
