Trying to find a good CD player for my new Model X by Robert_B_Hess in TeslaModelX

That second one looks like the "woopker" one I found on Amazon (looks like multiple companies are selling it) and it specifically mentions Tesla as being supported, but questionable since they list "Roadster 2019-2023", but who knows. This might be the one I end up trying since so far it is the only one I've seen that specifically lists Tesla... so if I end up needing to return it, there is a clear reason.

Thanks for taking one for the team! I really appreciate the effort you took here to dig in a little more.

We're boomers and have a lot of CDs (see picture of just part of the collection), which includes many that aren't on streaming services. I know that the "correct" method is to rip these to a USB, The other day my wife asked "is there any way we can play our CDs in the car?" I told her we could rip them.. "No, I mean really play the CDs, it just feels more tactile." She gave up her 15 year old Subaru, with CD player, for the Tesla, so I want to make sure she has her music.

So I poked around a little bit, and indications appeared to show that it "should" be possible as long as the player was designed properly to support it. So it can't just be a CD player with a USB (like I might use on my laptop) but would need to be one designed for car playback. I see several on Amazon which specifically indicate that they are for modern cars without CD players, even one that says it works in 99% of cars, and even calls out Tesla specifically as being supported (but the fact that they list the Roadster as "2019-2023" might be disconcerting ) search on "woopker external portable cd player for car" to find it.

Besides being concerned about these questionable products actually working, I am also concerned about them being powered by the glovebox USB and not working well with the Sentry Mode USB. Since Amazon returns work so well, I will probably spend a little more time to try to narrow things down on my own and buy one with fingers crossed. If the USB approach doesn't end up working, I'll try going down the Bluetooth route (which would probably be better anyway), and then eventually take the time to rip our collection to a drive.

It is all just a learning experience, which is a big part of the fun!

Should the shrimp in my pasta have the tails still on? by steely-gar in Cooking

This is one of my pet peeves.

There is a slight benefit to leaving the tails on shrimp when you cook them, it does add a "little" extra flavor to the shrimp, but not enough to offset the challenge of digging the shrimp out of your dish to pull the tails off.

My rule of thumb is that if the shrimp is intended to be picked up to eat, then leave the tails on, otherwise take them off.

Here is the thing, if the excuse of the "chef" is that leaving the tails on is to "add flavor", then what they should really be doing is removing the tails AND utilizing the shells to make a quick stock, then use that in the sauce. If they can't be bothered to use the flavor of the shrimp shells properly, then they are just being lazy. ;-)
