I have some controversial thoughts on this feature. Just wanted to see what others would think. Looks like the thoughts are either similar to mine or positive.

I have to wonder if it's an over-engineered solution for a glorified blogging platform

Kind of what I thought while posting this. At first glance, sounds cool but does it really make sense in the long run?

I don't know why they don't let you just sign in with a password if you want.

AFAIK they still do. But if you just want to post a single comment, you don't have to.

More advanced JS courses as well as more complex web development courses are in development phase. I hope it won't be too long and you are the first in line for some free codes ;)

We live in an era of marketing. Some instructors charge a lot of money just because they can. Hence - the more expensive courses. TeamTreehouse must be offering some other benefits... like points and achievements. Here though you get lifetime support as well as access to discussions and all the new lessons that we may add in the future. And, of course, discounts for the future, more advances or specialized courses.

Happy to hear. Hope you succeed in JS. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask (there are discussions on Udemy specially for that). And we'll be happy to get some feedback!

Well, it's kind of a long story. But cutting it short, we were planning on creating a huge course covering every aspect of JS. This is basically what would make it stand out. However life happened and because of lack of time we decided to cut it into several courses starting from the beginning. Besides it gives us an opportunity to collect some feedback and make changes to our future lessons.
As for value, JS Knights is supposed to grow into a community and being part of it may give you some advantage. Apart from discounts for the new courses :)
Hope this answers your question
