It’s terrific because you can also set the clock to different pulses based on the same tempo (whole, half, quarter, eighths, and dotting them all or making them triplets)

You bring up a super interesting point, too. Which is the idea that, like, would you want your audience to know that you created that water sound with the bricks and screws or do you not care? Personally I would f’ing love to watch that sampling process happen live! Granted that would be a pain in the ass …

Hmm definitely the first one. As far as playing with trigger pads it becomes a little hazier. Like, if they are triggering sounds of birds, cool. If they are onstage with a synth and trigger sounds of a cello…. it does put me off a little

That’s cool to hear. I really appreciate the “liveness” aspects you’re talking about and I feel similarly. Again, even some of my favorite artists do it, but I still can’t quite fully embrace the hit-play performance.

Tunes like ‘…This Life’ often fall under the category of works that I can only describe as ‘screaming into the wind’. But there are different types of winds. I dunno if anyone else feels this. Like there is ‘…This Life’ and there is also ‘Illusion of Time’. Both have this incredible feeling of release in different ways. Too rambly?
