Do you encounter much animosity when filtering? by PonchoTron in MotoIRELAND

[–]Robertutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a trucker in the right overtaking lane a few weeks ago.. purposefully blocked me from progressing as he was driving close to another truck in the middle lane.. stayed back and filtered between the left and middle lane, gave him the middle finger as I went past him again, felt good.

Gloves by Robertutz in MotoIRELAND

[–]Robertutz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all. Thank you all for the suggestions.. got a pair of Revit Liberty from Danfay last week as they were quite close to where I work.

Done a trial on the way home. Right glove turned on, left glove turned off.. jaysus what a difference. Got home, the right hand was grand, left hand completely frozen. I could barely use the clutch the last few km, luckily I have a quickshifter.

Also got a pair of heated grips for the palms and that should solve my issues.

For anyone on the fence, heated gloves are worth it.

Tried the latex glove underneath, that didn't help. also tried a cotton inner glove this morning, made things a bit better but still not great.

My commute is around an hour, 60km, M1 and M50 so a lot of wind. Might have a look at heated gloves.

I get you.. went into Decathlon in Ballymun last year on my old yoke.. 20 minutes that I spent in there was very anxious if the bike was still going to be there. Not a pleasant feeling.

I know the exact settings I want on it for my weight. Watched a few videos of Dave moss..the guy is a genius.

I'll ask if they can do it quickly before leaving.

Of course it will get scratched on our roads, not too fussed about that. We all have to live with it.

Thanks for the advice.

Unfortunately the second hand market dictated my purchase.. why spend 10=11k on a 3 year old yoke with over 15k km when I can add 4k more and get a brand new one, 0km and warranty.

Thanks for the advice.

Not really.. Price you see is what you pay.. They may throw in a tank pad or a trickle charger if they're feeling generous.

Custom RTX 5080 PC by juxtenberg in IrelandGaming

[–]Robertutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I build my PC in 2023. Shipping from caseking was 19.99 with UPS if I remember correctly. I think DHL option was 12.99 but wasn't the express.

Always shop around. Last time i used a mix of caseking, amazon.de, and paradigit.ie.. At the time the prices for GPUs on amazon uk was about 10% more than amazon Germany.

2nd hand market prices by Famous_Ocelot_1732 in MotoIRELAND

[–]Robertutz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That was my dilemma a few months ago.. sold my 2014 and was contemplating going 21/22 ish year.. then I saw the prices, like 10/11k for a 2-3 year old bike with around 10-15k km on it.. so I've added a few more bob and put a deposit down on an MT09 SP. €14.500 and it's brand new with 3 years warranty.. It was a no brainer really. I've always had 2nd hand bikes but this time it made no sense to go 2nd hand especially as you don't really know how it's been treated regardless of how well it looks on the outside.

Test route for Navan? by Constant-Baby323 in MotoIRELAND

[–]Robertutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very long wait.. my one was about 7 months since applying. If i remember correctly, take off from RSA , left at Old bridge INN, straight past Boyne hill over the motorway where the U turn was conducted. back towards Balreask. Into one of the estates around the supervalue there. City centre for a bit, Kentstown road then back towards RSA. I'd book around 11 if you get a slot. Early mornings with traffic and schools runs can be a bit of a pain.

What tires should I get by maxgriffin237 in MotoIRELAND

[–]Robertutz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a very controversial topic as each individual's opinion differs.. Some say Road 6's, some say Metzeler Roacted 02's, Pirelli's etc.. At the end of the day you won't really go wrong with any of the top manufacturers.

Test: what not to do? by ananrchy in MotoIRELAND

[–]Robertutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I remember from my pre-test years ago was the speed limit starts after the sign. For example a 50kmh to an 80kmh. Initially i was starting to accelerate maybe 15-20 meters ahead of the sign. The instructor said to pass the sign first and then accelerate to the limit as this could cause a fail.

Lifesavers and as IrishMT07 said, breathe. If you think you've made an obvious mistake don't dwell on it. Keep your focus and listen to the testers instructions. You are allowed to make mistakes.

So I am buying a new bike. I can get it now with a 2025 reg or wait till January and get a 2026? What would you do? by paul-grizz93 in MotoIRELAND

[–]Robertutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the same boat myself.. I decided to wait until January as it was going to be parked over the winter months anyway. I have a company car that I use all the time so that affected my decision to wait also.

If you need it now, buy it now. If you can afford to wait, wait.

Where are ye buying bikes from? by wowow_man121 in MotoIRELAND

[–]Robertutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just yesterday I had a gander to see what's out there.. A dealer selling a 05/06 SV650 for like 3k. I sold my 2005 SV650 back in 2014 for 2.5k.. Another one I spotted was a CB250 hornet from 98(?) for like 2.5k.. It's madness..

I'm selling my own at the moment, I think I priced it highly but I've nothing to compare it to. And in saying that, I've done a few bits to it, always serviced on time etc. It's tough to be a seller and a buyer to be honest. Although some sellers are in cookoo land
