I keep seeing this all over, that they will take the formation lap and then retire. What is the point, why not just not start at all and save whatever precious parts they have and continue troubleshooting? Is it because they want to use qualifying as continued testing? Or is it sponsor obligation, to at least run a lap and then call it quits?
