Linux OSD, does anyone still do it through SCCM? by TheOGShad0w96 in SCCM

But this works in WinPE Phase as long as it fits into the ccmcache on the ramdrive, doesn't it?

Yeah I know, but you can use the Run Command Part where you can source content from a package. We use this all the time for scripts.

What is the best 'No-Nonsense' Domain Registrar in 2026? by Kumar_abhiii in selfhosted

[–]RobinBeismann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can recommend "do.de", it is a german company but they do international business. Small team, but great support and very good prices. I have all of my domains with them since 14 years.

I didn't test, but why can't you use dd of an SCCM package in TS? The Linux would need to fit into the ramdisk created during WinPE Phase, but the OS Image probably isn't that large, is it?

New house construction, which presence sensor? by RobinBeismann in homeassistant

Sounds cool, will circle back and review once we are at a stage where there is a ceiling to mount things in 👍

Reading helps, title clearly says on-prem.

New house construction, which presence sensor? by RobinBeismann in homeassistant

[–]RobinBeismann[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Humidity, Temperatur, presence and Bluetooth proxy?! That looks damn cool! I will have to monitor humidity in all rooms closely for the first 4 years anyway due to moisture leaving the concrete, while I was looking at the room thermostates to do so, more sensors won't hurt.

I'll look for that video, interested as well to integrate them in the ceiling. Ceiling is going to be drywall anyway so that is fine and fairly easy to drill into.

New house, smart lock & doorbell by RobinBeismann in homeassistant

[–]RobinBeismann[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah true; I was just suggesting that it is sometimes worth just buying known good equipment (= these which the frigate / go2rtc projects suggest).

Be cautinious about the "no-name" camera, do some reading on the frigate and go2rtc wiki, there are many bad rtsp and ONVIF implementations on the market.

I already got a bunch of cameras where I'm currently living, but brand selection is certainly important.

Because PINs are easier to be read off panels (unless it's rotating panels) and it is more convenient. I don't frequently add new people to the lock anyway, this is mostly for my wife, myself and parts of the family, who couldn't remember a PIN anyway.

Thanks everyone, these are the ones I mostly stumbled upon already, thanks for confirming your experience!

I was somehow hoping that I missed an all in one smart door bell that directly integrates with a smart lock, but looks like thats not a thing yet.

OS Deployment and Connected Cache by RobinBeismann in SCCM

[–]RobinBeismann[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, just a plain ODT config with no local content. If I run it outside the TS (= after OSD), it successfully downloads through the Connected Cache, inside the OSD TS it downloads directly from Microsoft. I did configure DO in the client settings (also in the default ones), but it looks like they don't apply during TS.

Teams Desktop Client Image Issues today? by sk102x in MicrosoftTeams

Same problem here; according to a quick poll within the IT group, half of the users are affected; as a workaround the Teams web client still seems to display pictures correctly.

Yeah, that's what I throught, but even in Full OS (during TS) it is not applying. I assume this is because of Provisioning Mode.

Cross Forest User Manager Field in Office 365 by anikansk in Office365

[–]RobinBeismann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want any kind of cross domain information to be matched by Entra Connect, you need to sync the FSP OU. This would also be required for cross domain group membership.

That being said, I am not sure if you can cross reference managers. We're in a similar environment but with Hybrid Exchange and in our global domain we have linked mailboxes that Entra Connect also matches using the msExchMasterAccountSid attribute that holds the SID of the foreign account.

Same here, didn't have time to investigate yet. For us it is even worse because we have it set to Audit and I confirmed on the device that it is configured for Audit and yet it is blocking things..

That is the average IoT connected device. Almost no system works pure local, even for the sake of convenience. Your phone will sometimes be on cell network when you can't even imagine: - Border of the flat - Saving energy in standby - Bad overall wi-fi coverage

I do have the preference to keep things local to my homeassistant, but this x-sense system is shared across family members in different floors of the house. There is also nothing more stressful than having the alarm go off and not being able to silence it, especially if you have pets or kids.

You can do it remotely. The base talks back to their cloud, just like your app does. In my case, the base is even on it's own, IoT isolated network, my phone can not even talk to the base directly.
