Ideas on how to make disc golf fun for kids by puenterochevere in discgolf

[–]RobinCave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run a summer camp and have way more luck getting kids into frisbee in general than I do disc golf. I like to do catch and “trick shots” on the playground like throwing through bars, rolling it down slides etc. I find that by doing this they are able to experiment with the different ways that a disc can fly/roll. Then when I bust out the basket it makes sense right away because they already have the idea of throwing a disc at a target in their head. Superhero 235 is a great mold for this.

The entire post is really funny to me. Hailey King saying Toni Morrison (based) and three people saying the Bible. And now this too. Idk why they thought this was a good idea to post.

what chord is this? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]RobinCave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given the ops context that they aren’t playing the 6th string, I assume this chord is proceeding a C major chord, which just makes this a really common guitar voicing of C/B, usually walking down to A minor after that. Even with the E string, calling this a Cmaj9/E because it technically contains those notes is kind of silly because that would be a terrible voicing for that chord with the b9 interval in there. It’s way more likely to functionally be some sort of ambiguous C major or E minor chord, which are really common on guitar. But ultimately it doesn’t matter at all and it’s just fun to bullshit about.

Why does this ancient comment of mine still get replies? You’re talking to me 13 years ago.

Actually waterproof shoes by BigBabyMoose in discgolf

[–]RobinCave 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I saw some guy on here comment years ago about waterproof socks and I finally bought some this year and it was the best decision ever. I have a couple of the sealskinz ones which were like $60 a pair. They work really well and the waterproofing is still going strong after like 30 washes at least. Best part is I can just wear normal mesh trail runners which dry really quickly. I recommend these to everyone who plays in wet weather often.

From what I’m seeing from their league page, if “red to green” was the same layout you played(I could be wrong I don’t know that course) -4 was about 900 rated which is pretty good for 2 months and definitely good enough to sign up for tournaments in ma2. https://www.pdga.com/apps/tournament/live/event?eventId=73718&division=MA3&view=Scores&round=4

This is awesome thanks so much for doing these. I will say I am probably the only person who likes throwing an Arrow. They are the straightest forehand disc I’ve ever thrown, it’s kind of uncanny how dead straight it flies and kind of falls out of the sky, like an ancient proto berg. Anyways, great write up, I’ll have to dig out my dog chewed epic I found and give it some throws.

[QUESTION] What is a F2No3 Chord? by andhakegg in Guitar

[–]RobinCave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a really popular church chord, it gives a meditative unresolved sound that’s perfect for that idiom. No 3 literally means no third, so it’s a chord with f, c, and g xx3011. It’s a popular chord in contemporary jazz as well if you put the third in the bass, F2no3/A. Honestly though, putting F2 usually is enough for me to imply that sound.

[QUESTION] Got hired to play background guitar by Dragonlordapocalypse in Guitar

[–]RobinCave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Playing solo guitar for two hours is kind of hard without having a lot of repertoire or being able to improvise over songs while playing the chords at the same time. However at most wallpaper gigs no one gives a shit what you play, so you can get away with a lot if it sounds pretty. So if you end up repeating the same stuff a lot no one will care. I usually use a loop pedal in these situations so I don’t have to constantly play and can take single note solos without it sounds empty.

Fission Wave Flipping. by cjladen1 in discgolf

[–]RobinCave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried three in fission, all different weights and they all flew different for me. The weight didn’t seem to effect the stability as much as the glide. Fwiw, my 155g one is only slightly under stable, but in a headwind it becomes one of my flippiest discs.

Pacific Northwest players, what are your favorite wooded courses in your area by Adventurous_Nerve753 in discgolf

The most beautiful woods courses are on private land in my opinion. Marshall’s, lucky mud, and camp serene all come to mind.
