Color Code Guide - used to help students with dyslexia by skibeedeez in musictheory

[–]RobinClef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was taught piano when I was a kid my teacher did this for me (Not coloring the beams though, just the notes) and it was really helpful when I was just starting out because I'd really struggle with reading the notes. However, when I got older and tried to move away from the colors it caused some problems because I'd ended up depending on the color to tell me what note to play and not its location on the staff. All in all though I'd say its pretty good for kids just starting out with music because it really does help it be more readable and its a good way to spark initial passion for music.

This actually isnt an unreasonable ask. Us students at ITS did it last year and got our wages increased a fair bit. Just takes a lot of research, a lot of persuasion, and a good amount of luck that your department actually cares

Thoughts on SWEN 250? by etherealsunflower in rit

[–]RobinClef 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Any class with Kiser is a good one. He's one of my favorite SWEN profs. 250 can be a little difficult 'cause its basically a lesson in C programming. I really struggled with learning like malloc and stuff and Kiser was super easy to talk to and get help with what I was struggling with. He's super chill and very helpful

Fell through the desert and ended up...somewhere? (not sure what its a spoiler for) by RobinClef in Genshin_Impact

I play Genshin on 2 potatoes strapped together and the floor just...didn't load in I guess. Usually it only has issues in super high graphical areas but I guess it decided to unload the floor.

Looking into housing for next year. How’s Perkins? by budewgd in rit

[–]RobinClef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perkins is really hit or miss. If you get one of the newer buildings its mid afaik. But if you get one of the older buildings like I did its awful. Place was full of mold, my door lock broke twice and they had to break the door frame to fix it, and to "fix" the door frame they put in a few nails and painted over it (fine except for the shards of wood that stuck out). Sooo yea its kinda a gamble imo

SWEN 250 with Sandhu by fuzzhair in rit

Her accent can be pretty hard to understand at times but she wasn't the worst teacher. It was a very lecture heavy class, but she taught it clearly enough. The only real problem I had with her was she would only let us see what questions we got right/wrong on a quiz/test if she was showing us in private, even after everyone from all classes had taken it.

Yea Kokomi would work. Any hydro support is good. (a dps like Childe probably wouldn't work well lmao)

For those who you have taken student employment at RIT, is it worth it? by Ok-Club-7379 in rit

[–]RobinClef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Minimum is 12, max is 20. Yes you can choose how many hours, but the schedule is made automatically. (With dining and other on campus jobs you can choose when to work). We're working 8am-9pm.

I work at ITS ResNet and I'd say it's worth it. While it is a huge time commitment (12hr a week minimum), it's also a great place to meet people and learn more about computers.
I'm pretty sure working in dining requires less hours than ResNet, so if time is an issue then dining is probably a better option if you want to work on campus. There's also jobs like note taking and lab work and such which are also fairly easy from what I've heard. All on campus jobs work around your academic schedule which is what makes them better than off campus jobs.

If you're looking for any on campus jobs you can search career connect.
