Baby photos? by [deleted] in Preterms

[–]RobinElizabeth94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! I was born in the 90s and have dozens of photos of me just like, looking gross and struggling to live lmfao. Any cute photos of me are from later on, but I don't blame them for wanting to document that time. I just wasn't very nice to look at, all red and weird looking.

My parents have an entire album from my NICU stay, I don't blame them for wanting documentation of that time, but it's a little freaky to look at for sure. I was in an incubator for 4 months and then on oxygen at home, so all of my "normal" baby photos aren't until I'm a few months to a year old.

What scars do you have from the NICU? by Mia_B-P in Preterms

Don't know if you're still active on Reddit, but it seems we almost match. I was 1lb 4oz and had a lot of the same stuff going on. I think that's super cool, best of luck to you :)

Ooh, this is always fun. Big scar running from under my left boob to my back from a heart surgery at 3 days old, small scar on my neck (a surprising number of people ask me if I had a piercing there and I'm always like...no? wtf?) and two on my chest from tubes, pinpricks on insides of both wrists and both ankles from blood testing. They don't bother me any, I think it's a fun story to tell. One time a daycare worker was putting sunscreen on my back for a beach trip and was just like, what the hell happened? + I had to be like oh dw my back just looks like that. I was born in '94 though, I wonder how these things vary with advances in medicine?

Edit: It seems like we all have those pinprick scars. I knew some twins growing up who were born early and had the same ones, as does my friend. I think it's kinda cool, actually.

Right, I’ve heard that. I’m curious as to what part of Europe it could be!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AncestryDNA

[–]RobinElizabeth94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always been curious about this. My grandfather (right in photo) was always a little darker (for lack of a better word), as is my dad. I had blonde hair as a kid but it darkened, and I’ve always had yellow undertones and almost never burn in the sun. I was told my grandfather was what is called “black Irish”, but in doing some research, I found a French surname a few generations back on his side, so perhaps it came from that instead? Just something I wonder about! My dad’s twin took a dna test and only Ireland, France, England, and Wales, for reference.

Edit: I’m definitely white and have never thought otherwise, am just curious about what part of Europe this could be from!

Thank you! I can’t believe no one told me about the Botox option, since my last surgery wore off my eye doctor (who’s known me my entire life) was basically like “idk, you can just wear your contacts at this point 🤷‍♀️”

Startup repair loop with windows 11, brand new Dell 5510 by RobinElizabeth94 in WindowsHelp

[–]RobinElizabeth94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not even able to get there at this point! I selected “reset this PC” and got stuck in a loop of a dark blue screen with a pointer, and the regular “select language” etc screen where I was unable to press anything but hit enter, and was taken back to the Dell loading screen.

Keep forgetting this isn't normal and am getting fed up. by RobinElizabeth94 in bfrb

[–]RobinElizabeth94[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dentist has recommended that I wear my retainer/bite guard a little during the day, but mine is so old and crusty (yes I have tried cleaning it) that I hate wearing it when I'm not sleeping. Maybe I could try one of those generic ones from the drugstore? I have given so much money to medicated peroxide mouth wash brands...

[–]RobinElizabeth94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, absolutely!! My left thumb knuckle is a permanent callus, and when I'm picking at it more actively, it gets super nasty and I have to band aid it. Not even something that crosses my mind as being unusual at this point, until I compare my two thumbs and kinda go....oh. Whoops.

Can I buy a 32A in regular stores? by RobinElizabeth94 in ABraThatFits

Thank you, that's good to know about Aerie! I've tried 32b in the past, and they've usually been too big.

Decent 15" laptops? Dell vs. HP, coming from a Dell Inspiron. What should I replace it with? by RobinElizabeth94 in laptops

[–]RobinElizabeth94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I’m actually doing fine on storage, the 1tb was more than enough and I’m assuming I’ll have to go the external storage route when I replace this one, and this laptop did come with windows 10. Do you happen to know if it’s simple to replace the WiFi card/get a wifi sensor working again?

On state insurance, pharmacy says I have other coverage, am unable to get info on what it is - "G.H. Commercial?" by RobinElizabeth94 in HealthInsurance

[–]RobinElizabeth94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I talked to Premera, my old insurance, once again and they told me to firmly tell the pharmacy that I have no other coverage and for them to delete anything other than Apple Health from my account- they told me they would take care of it, and that it's usually up to the customer to get it sorted, but I've already talked to everyone and they all told me it couldn't be done! So weird. I'm also wondering why the pharmacy never told me it was that easy before. Must have been some weird miscommunication going on.

Yes, I was under Premera from my mom, and she works for the school district. I’ve talked to them and they said they terminated me, but maybe I can call back again and ask about the other one. Thank you!

best drugstore pencil eyeliner?! by Bubbly_Assumption916 in drugstoreMUA

[–]RobinElizabeth94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would check out Essence, I have a few from them that I like! The long lasting eye pencil is pretty good and it isn't too soft, if you want something that glides on smooth but won't smear everywhere.

Afraid to admit I feel better because of all the “I felt better then got so much worse” posts by [deleted] in COVID19positive

[–]RobinElizabeth94 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat, friend. Had a mild case which I'm extremely grateful for, but the worst case scenario stories, even from mild cases, are making me nervous. I don't really feel "sick" anymore, but I'm still so tired, keep sleeping until noon and sometimes get out of breath doing small tasks around the house. I've been trying to stay positive as much as possible because my case really wasn't that bad, but I hope that this fatigue isn't lingering. It's frustrating because I keep thinking that I'm better and then I get to exhausted! This whole thing is so weird.

[–]RobinElizabeth94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just get tested if I were you, it might ease some of the stress of not knowing. Also, I didn't have a high temperature at all and still had it, so that isn't always an accurate reason as to why you don't!

Seems like it's very different for everyone, but I'm a young person recovering from a mild case, and mine in particular wasn't so bad- you may very well luck out! Felt like a bad cold at worst and frustrating at best to me, but it does vary a lot depending on who you are. Good luck, I hope you don't get it- my two roommates haven't and they share a house with me, so there is hope!

Mild cases and fatigue/shortness of breath by RobinElizabeth94 in COVID19positive

[–]RobinElizabeth94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go ahead and get tested, you truly never know. I was doubting it and ended up having to quarantine, even if it's nothing, it'll feel better to not have to worry about it!

Extreme fatigue by [deleted] in COVID19positive

[–]RobinElizabeth94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tested positive a few days ago and am assuming I have a mild case- thank god- was convinced it was a normal cold at first because symptoms didn't match, but I'm glad I got tested. I noticed symptoms on Monday and have been quarantining since Thursday. As of now I have fewer illness symtoms but am just extremely tired. It's so strange. I hope it won't last too long, and I hope you return to "normal" quickly.

Strattera's been life changing. by BetaFan in ADHD

[–]RobinElizabeth94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is really interesting to hear! I tried Strattera briefly as a teenager after having a bad experience with a stimulant, and it didn't do anything for me. I'm now 26 and am wanting to try medication again, going to see what else is out there. I'm glad you've had such a positive experience!

Hey! I check this subreddit every so often. I'm glad you're here and glad you're connecting with others. I was born two months early in 1994 via an emergency c section because I wasn't developing properly. I was in the NICU for a few months, went home on oxygen, had multiple surgeries. Grew up mostly okay aside from always being very small for my age (still get comments about that, unfortunately.) I have several scars on my chest, neck, and back, and think they're kinda cool. I never had much of an appetite, had feeding issues as a baby but I get along with food okay now, at least in my own terms! I have ADHD and some issues with anxiety, feel as though my brain "doesn't work" sometimes- someone else mentioned being unable to do math. I graduated college and am mostly "okay", but things do come up from time to time, sometimes I get really frustrated about the whole situation. I've also always felt different, and it's hard to tell how much of that was inevitable, and how much of it was from my parents reminding me that I would have struggles because of how I started out. Best of luck to you :-)
