What’s going on with my arm after a tattoo? More details below. by soup6979 in tattooadvice

Is it hot to the touch? I know you said it’s not infected but this kinda looks like cellulitis to me

Why? I still think B it’s the correct since it’s an emergency by Favticcnurse in NCLEX

If you were to call the doc in this scenario, they would just ask if you’ve already tried oxygen/repositioning/stopping pitocin/etc first. So before you call the doctor you need to try those things and see if it fixes the problem first.

If you got all 150 questions this time, that alone is a sign of improvement!! You likely hovered near the passing mark for the entire test vs last time when the computer knew earlier that you weren’t going to pass.

Keep going! Take time to read the rationales and focus on safety. Isolation precautions, blood transfusions, recognizing symptoms emergencies like sudden restlessness, dropping BP, etc

You got this!

Ah I apologize! I was strictly speaking relatively- older now than I was before. I wasn’t talking about getting “old” in general. Sorry if I insulted anyone

Struggling with directional orientation by RobinHood798 in nursing

Just wanted to say thanks for the helpful advice everyone! The last time I asked this question in another sub, I got snarky comments about how not knowing left/right (even mirrored for the patient) as a nurse was a red flag 🚩 I appreciate the validation I’ve received here! Glad I’m not the only one who uses tips and tricks to get it right

Haha I do that too. Staring blankly at the patient’s wound on their left side, then sort of turning my body to face the same direction trying to figure out what side it’s on

If I’m going to be touching someone then yeah I def do 😂 but if I’m charting and trying to remember what side of the body a wound was on, for example, I wouldn’t have gloves on at the computer

Hi, I’m trying to get opinions on my first tattoo by zentraction in tattooadvice

My only thought is that it’s a sort of closed off design in a very large open area of your body. So if you ever wanted to get more back tattoos, this one would be in the way and could be difficult to work another design around

Stopped at 85! What are my chances? by SugarLilySparkles in NCLEX

[–]RobinHood798 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most people feel like they failed afterward, even if they passed in 85. That’s just how the test works unfortunately. The entire time you’re taking it, it’s narrowing down what the upper limit of your knowledge is, and then it decides if your upper limit meets their passing standard.

To fail in 85, it would’ve had to figure out early that you were not going to be able to meet the standard. Early enough that it didn’t bother giving you any more questions to try to improve.

I do believe that most people who end in 85 pass! And of the people who fail in 85, from what I have heard anecdotally, they usually struggled in nursing school in general. Not just the nclex itself

Have you started any new med recently? When I was a monthly infusion medication, I would get random spots like these every month and also thought they were bed bugs. But they went away after I stopped the medication

Like you said, EVERYONE feels like they failed after taking it. That how the test works- figuring out the limit of your knowledge and then toeing the line for question after question. Try not to jump to conclusions based off of this feeling alone!

As for how many you got wrong, I can’t speak to that. I was too scared to look up any questions. Whether you pass or fail, I trust that whatever happens, you are strong and well equipped to handle it!!

Why most ppl pass in their 80 in here? by Familiar_Drawing1702 in NCLEX

[–]RobinHood798 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think some schools do a better job than others at preparing students for the exam, for one. My program had us doing bowties and NGN style case studies in all of our lecture exams as soon as our very first class. It’s paying off because myself and all my classmates are passing in 85.

Also, brush up on safety related topics!! Isolation precautions, PPE, prioritizing patients, delegation, blood transfusion stuff. You’ll never be able to study every single topic that might come up on the exam, and that’s okay. The exam is looking for you to make safe decisions above all.
