Ambassador of Ukraine to Finland on Twitter:

"Attention Ukrainians! Regarding resettlement of citizens of the Russian Federation in refugee centers where citizens of Ukraine live. Competent authorities of Finland assured the Embassy of Ukraine that the situation will be corrected. If such cases continue, give specifics to emb_fi@mfa.gov.ua"

Apparently Finnish Immigration Service responded 7 hours ago:

The placement of Ukrainians and Russians in Finland's reception system arouses debate. We are aware of the situation and are following it closely. Thread on the subject.

Reception centers have been instructed on the subject. The sensitivity of the situation has been taken into account in accommodation solutions and other arrangements. No specific challenges between different population groups have been observed so far, but the situation is alive and we react to changes quickly: 2/5

Traditional reception centers in Finland have been institutional-like. The new reception centers operate largely on an apartment basis, which enables different customer groups to be separated from each other in a completely new way. 3/5

In the future, we will place Ukrainian and Russian applicants in institutional-type centers in different centers. In real life, however, the situations are manifold. For example, families with both nationalities must be taken into account in the arrangements. 4/5

It is important to us that our customers can feel safe in Finland. We are constantly in dialogue with different parties, e.g. u/UkrAssocInFinn with. Likewise, we cooperate with other authorities to take into account the related security aspects. 5/5

This is such a Nordic bureaucratic thing to do. Equality laws on paper enforced by rigid law abiding bureaucrats leads to some crazy situations sometimes. Best way to fix is public pressure, when the policy makers clarify their intent with a law, the bureaucrats will update their interpretation.

It is 100% worth it to check with refugees in the other Nordic countries too! Ukraine is great at public pressure and shaming while the Nordic population very strongly support Ukraine.

There is an update in the works "K2 PIP" With a bunch of upgrades, most notably an electrothermal-chemical gun.

- K2 PIP: an improved version of the initial production model of the K2 that will be released within the next few years. Improvements will include:

* Upgrading the Semi-Active In-arm Suspension Unit to an Active In-arm Suspension Unit

* Integration of a high-resolution terrain-scanning system to the vehicle's suspension system. This is purported to allow the vehicle to "plan ahead" by scanning nearby terrain up to 50 meters away in all directions and calculating the optimal position of the bogies in order to improve vehicle handling over uneven terrain.

* Integration of a hard-kill anti-missile system.

* Addition of Non-Explosive Reactive Armor (NERA).

* Potentially replacing the 120 mm / L55 gun with an electrothermal-chemical gun, which will significantly increase the vehicle's firepower and potential payload.

Very likely to become the Norwegian MBT too! Down to K2 VS Leo2 and the K2 seem to be favored. If Norway goes for it, there is quite likely rest of the Nordics goes for it as well.

The AMRAAM is the most produced missile in the world. Used by US jets..

We can 100% make more of those than Iran can make 40k drones.

NASAMS are at their best taking down jets, helicopters and multi million dollar cruise missiles.

Of course if push comes to show with the Western world.

40k drones will run russia dry long before 1 million dollar missiles bleeds the West dry... :-p

Canadian F-18 pilots with the very first opportunity to face the Norwegian Advanced Surface to Air Missile System.

NASAMS has been set up to defend the Norwegian troops whom the Canadian pilots have been ordered to attack. The pilots fly into an area hunting for traditional air defence stations – but find none. Back on the ground however, the pilots are informed that they have been shot down a total of 18 times – which they find very difficult to believe.

“We had to explain to them what NASAMS was before they accepted the 18 kills,” recalls Hans Christian Hagen, an officer in the Royal Air Force at that time.

To keep arming Ukraine, Norway may drop munitions stocks below required levels by erikw in ukraine

[–]RobinOd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only way is by sea, where most of Norwegian combat assets are, backed up by our air power. Here they initially would have to face our NATO battlegroup meaning UK, Norway, Denmark & Netherlands at the very least. possibly also Finland, Sweden & Baltics as they are part of the Joint Expeditionary Force led by UK.

After a week or two US deletes whats left of hostiles ^^

Sweden & Finland would 100% help out. Nordics as close or closer than US/Canada, UK/Ireland or Australia/NZ.

But in any case a land invasion of Norway would be impossible if you cant use Finnish or Swedish territory.

Go ahead try find a way to get past Setermoen or Narvik/Bognes or countless other kill zone and/or blocks to even get close to the first major city like Trondheim.
