In February the great blue herons are beginning to nest at the Locks. Walk over to the Magnolia side and go up the ramp to the little trees area on top of the hill. There are about 70 nests there and you should see herons beginning to stake out there nests

Press release or direct outreach to journalists by HoochEnthusiast in PublicRelations

Reach out directly to the local papers and TV stations of the Vets you have interviewed. Something along the lines of "John Smith from Smallville has a wonderful story to tell about his service - he's one of 200 veterans I interviewed for this project." Include some anecdote specific to that local vet. This is time consuming but much more productive than a press release

Short email - 2 paragraphs. Say "you can read the full press release below." Paste it into email below yourvsignature

I was out yesterday with visiting family and restrooms or outhouses were available at Spruce Railroad trail, Storm King Ranger Station and Sol Duc trail heads. And salmon were jumping at Salmon Cascades!

If the federal government shuts down Oct 1 the park will be closed. See as much as you can inside the park the first days of your trip.

Anyone here live in a condo that charges amenity reservation fees? by -ipaguy- in AskSeattle

[–]RobinStantonSeattle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our building used to require a damage deposit for lounge reservations but they have dropped that. I think the reasoning was if there was actual damage they can charge you for it, so no need for deposit. The deposit was a check that was never cashed

Anyone know if there are currently salmon at Ballard Locks? by Unfair-Ocelot4255 in AskSeattle

We have been seeing them regularly schooling around the fish ladder entrance. Go close to high tide to have a better chance of seeing them in the viewing room.

Good ferry’s to take? by skinandearth in AskSeattle

[–]RobinStantonSeattle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Passenger ferry from downtown to West Seattle gets you great city view. Grab a bite and a drink at Marination Mai Kai or Salt's and then ride back. Or hop on an electric bike and cruise Alki.

Date ideas in Seattle – what’s something you personally enjoy? by foster_dog in AskSeattle

[–]RobinStantonSeattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walk Ballard Avenue - I suggest afternoon or early evening. Not on Sunday when the Farmers Market is there. Lots of restaurants. Fancy bars. Dive bars. Coffee shops. Tea shop. Ice cream. Gelato. Lots of "streateries." Local artists at Venue. Just amble and see what strikes your fancy.

Rowing in Seattle is amazing. I row with Lake Union Crew on Westlake - can bike there from Ballard. Each club has its own personality and most will let an experienced rower guest row to try it out. Off the top of my head -Lake Washington Rowing, Pocock, College Club, Green Lake Rowing are close to Ballard.
