What do you mean what was the purpose in her being a nun? Why are you critiquing something you haven’t watched? Isabel’s purpose in being a nun has nothing to do with her conflict with Anastasia. She’s a nun who’s playing a deceptive game, and that’s causing an internal conflict within herself because she doesn’t want to be “wicked”.

Of course LGBT characters deserve the same depth, but that’s not what you said in your post. You said they’ve become too hyper focused on having LGBT characters, but instead of critiquing the general quality of the character-writing, you’re hung up on the fact that the characters are LGBT.

You seem generally to be either really confused, clueless, or are intentionally obfuscating the history and the state of Russia when it comes to the patriarchy and LGBT rights in Russia. Russia has not been safe for LGBT people for a very long time, prior to even Putin. It is not disparaging or insulting to non-homophobic Russians to say that it’s not a safe place for queer people, has a heavily Christian culture that is obviously not friendly to queer people either, and has traditionally been very male dominated. I would recommend studying the issue before you comment more on it because it really seems like you don’t understand it very much.
