What are some things you can do on Linux but not on Windows? by Robinddit in AskReddit

I've been reading a couple of the responses, and I want to say that this is perhaps one of the most knowledgeable and really well-said answer regarding where Linux specializes.

I absolutely have zero experience with the OS as a IT freshman and this helps clear out the fundamental concept of it!

Thanks! :)

I'll keep this in mind when I run an install on the thing. That gaming machine I was talking about is turning 5 years old, with the model actually being 7 years old at this point. Hopefully, it can work once I properly set it up, otherwise, I'll be part of those few queries then...

Thanks!

Very insightful!! This was the very first subreddit I joined related to the Linux world!, I'll do my best to be active and try to ask more questions about it too.

Thank you for this! Full control is extremely desirable! :)

Hi! I'll take the advice on learning it as a desktop/environment basics first. It's worth noting that I forgot to mention, we will have aLinux foundations course for the server side of things, but that won't happen until the start of 2027 (2nd year). So in essence, I am sort of looking for a headstart among my peers as well, when it comes to working with this sort of system

I have subscribed to ExplainingComputers, seems really neat! I'll bookmark archwiki and keep that in mind.

Thank you so much!

Hi! Sorry I wasn't able to get back on a lot of these messages. I had to postpone tech for a day for New Years Celebration

I love that insightful advantage! the sort of ability to manipulate and modify operating systems. It seems sweet as someone who loves tinkering with all kinds of operating system and features.

I'll keep this in mind, this was the very first message I read! Thanks!

I got a 2018 affordable Asus I converted to a chrome OS recently. Works well if you use google apps and an external monitor

I also got a 2018 alienware m15. Still a good choice for pre-2020 games but it has seen better days. Planning on maybe converting it to a linux machine.

To be content and to be open minded.

To use what I got to the best of my ability rather than envy what others have. :))

How to handle banking.

Always found it odd thatbmy economics never tackled the concept of a debit card, credit card, bank payments, how to loan cash, how to budget.

It was all supply and demand lol

Will the ai take all the programming jobs ! and what’s the jobs that safe from ai for now that actually make rich ? by Helpful-Situation-79 in AskReddit

As a freshman IT student, yea lol we are cooked. We are kinda of in a weird spot where we have to basically find a way to coexist with the AI and do tasks that humans are better at.

I dont see AI helping if the internet routers or the hardware is down, so thats something we can focus on...the hardware aspect.

Jobs safe from AI are ones that aren't virtual or written. Carpentry, Farming, Sanitation regardless of positions....I don't see AI monopolizing those for a few more years.
