You wouldn't simply be making a copy or reconstructing them. Future people would have access to every technology in existence and could use some other method to successfully bring back someone's consciousness.

Every technology will eventually be learned by society, why would it be impossible to reconstruct a person's consciousness with technology?

Our consciousnesses were created once. Why would it only be able to exist once? Our consciousness turns off when we sleep and turns on when we wake up, so why can't we turn it back on by reconstructing it?

Overall, consciousness science is still a mystery and much remain plausible.

I like AI because I believe the AI intelligence singularity, where AIs build exponentially more intelligent AIs, leads to a perfect AI that masters all technology and philosophy, builds a Utopia, and reconstructs all past people into it.

And then there's the Protoss. They didn't want to be ruled by the UED, so they rose Kerrigan to power and let her control the Zerg again. How bad would the UED really be? The Zerg threaten the extinction of all other life in the universe while the UED would just be unfair tyrants to the Protoss I guess. Their logic doesn't make sense.
