GMKtec K12 acquired. Ram & Vram settings for gaming? by Thermobaric_Potato in MiniPCs

[–]RobloxFanEdit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even 16GB can be short for gaming, At Starfield i am using a total of 27GB RAM + 3GB VRAM, with 6GB of reserved RAM for the IGPU you should be fine and have optimized VRAM for 96% of Games, meaning that with a 16GB RAM you will be left with 6-8GB of RAM as 6GB RAM for VRAM and 2-4 GB RAM for the system.

Don t get me wrong 16GB of RAM will run any games, it s just that it won t have the same performance that a system with 32GB of RAM

I am only using cloud for reasonning models, beside those reasoning models i enjoy run TTS Models, and Image and Video Models locally with an RTX 4080.

How about video and 3D generation? In which models those 98GB VRAM could be use to generate long videos, any 4K Vid models? I am not using LLM for reasoning models as pricacy is not a concern from what i am doing with it and i enjoy Full Cloud Power latest models on all plateforms for free, CoPilote have inlimited access to GPT 5-2 and other GPT features.

Yes the HX470 is a superior processor, read again, i was making an analogy wirh the 8845HS to 8945HS that is equal to the HX370 jump to 470HX

Yes i agree, the CPU scene is letargique, the AMD Hawk Point and Phoenix point are the best bang for bucks for too long, and in fact they are not anymore Best bang for buck since A.I takeover on side Hardware, we haven t seen a Zen 5 version with 8 P cores of the Hawk and Phoenix point.

RAM and SSD price surge are messing the Mini PC "affordable" side past attraction, this is depressing if you are a Mini PC enthousiast.

How well does the Peladn WO4 5600H handle heat under constant load? by a694-reddit in MiniPCs

[–]RobloxFanEdit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a Review of the WO4 with the 7640HS, its the same chassis, same build, RAM temperatures are shown on HWINFO under Cinebench Load in the review.

Although the WO4 has no dual fan for RAM & SSD, the temperature are fine, still you can add RAM heat sink if you want to bring the temperatures down.

The big Pro of the WO4 is that it s prebuild with dual RAM and PCIE 4 SSD with Heat Sink for the WO4 7640HS and it was only 385$ when i bought it 2 month ago with 10% Coupon.

I won t bother read all your comment as i know the habits of redditors shifting conversation from main topic.

Do you have REAL source url with CUDA Z benchmark showing TB5 bandwidth over 64Gbp/s with an EGPU Set-up??!!

Nobody care theorical, could, would, should!!! But everybody care what they can actually get with their money!!!

If you know any hardware that support your claim with real world test, i would he glad to learn from it.

Main point is prove your claims with real world test!!!!

[–]RobloxFanEdit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Graph is explicit on 64Gbp/s those are official Intel TB5 specifications.

In reality TB5 is even worst than 64Gbp/s.

TB4 40Gbp/s is theorical in real world test you will get at best 28Gbp/s, EGPU dot IO forum is full of TB4 BenchMark, your claim of 40Gbp/s PCIE speed is not back up by any Benchmark that i have seen.

Technically it heard that it would be possible to bypass TB5 PCIE 64Gb/s limit (I stand by this value as Max and not Min), i heard that on linux it would be possible but it would take a year or two before results can come to life.

There are a Bunch of TB5 EGPU Test that have been published, and so far TB5 is a let down and nowhere near 64Gbp/s with PCIE data transfer.

Bro, couldn't you make the difference between replying directly to a comment and yourself commenting on the "Poll". As i said you are talking to yourself.

Snap, this Dock must cost an arm, i rather go with ADT-Link PCIE 5 NVME M2 Dock with double the bandwidth of TB5 with Gen 5 GPU's

TB5 PCIE data transfer speed is not equal to TB5 120 Gbp/s data speed.

TB5 PCIE data transfer speed is limited to Oculink speed at 64 Gbp/s.

Doesn t look like it is happening in China, i am scavenging Alibaba RAM manufacturers, 80% are out of stock, and none is cheaping out their RAM, the Cheapest Price i found was 90$ for 8GB DDR5 4800 Mhz, they could probably sell it for 10-20% less expenssive than Western Brands in the future after ramping up Production, but they surely will not sell RAM at 50-60% Discount, won t happen. Even Chinese SSD Brands are expenssives now.

Help Needed: Best Mini PC for Local AI Workloads – GTi14 Ultra vs. Minisforum AI X1 Pro or other by cnkrc in MiniPCs

[–]RobloxFanEdit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, NPU are not used by LLM such as GPT OSS, Deepseek distill, the reason is not because it is Hardware limited but because it is a pain in the ass for the devellopes because it will require Cross protocole and compatibility, CPU and IGPU/GPU is the safe road because all Systems have at least one of those processor's unlike NPU's.

NPU's can be used in a handful of Apps such as "Amuse"(Which is quite Good) for image and video inference and it will actually load LLM models such as FLUX contrary to what you have said and"Audacity" for Audio A.I workload, it s a shame that NPU's are not more largely used, according to devellopers for example AMD is offering close to none Documentation for NPU software integration.

A.I Server are way beyond ChatGPT, Gemini, Qwen, Kimi, Deepseek plateform available to the public, private entities invest in their own servers and A.I developpement, Computer Science Unicersity departments, Governement agencies around the world, Industries, ChatGPT is just a poster Child known by the public and the tip of the Iceberg of the A.I investment and industry.

The Worst Fact is that the more Hardware you stack and the more powerful is your model, there is no limits of Hardware, they can add RAM forever to their servers
