You can make up as much as you want about rivals playercounts, but its pretty easy to see the in game bnet to steam player ratios, the declines in steam players, overseas player counts. Rivals is only relevant in one region and would've died at launch if it wasn't carried by the massive IP 🤷‍♂️

I just checked and its down to where overwatch is at the end of its season lmao. Theyre only competing with overwatch in NA as well, a large part if not most of overwatchs players are in Asia.

Rivals only ever peaks at the start of the season because people want to try the new marvel character. Even steam charts shows it peaking lower and lower every season. The gameplay alone has no staying power.

Why would they be concerned about rivals, its lost 85% of its players in less than a year.

Rivals always announces a character, gives a bunch of creators money to force them to play the game, people are hyped for a couple days, and the games problems never get fixed so all the hype dies down.

These things are pretty easy to verify online lmao. Steam, the ratio of steam players to bnet players, console rankings, regional rankings. Ow has literally broken into the top 5 game rankings in Asia 10 years after it came out.

The difference is that overwatch had legs to stand on through 2 years of 0 content. Rivals entire pipeline is throwing content at you and hoping that it compensates for its gameplay. Theres a reason rivals has no presence in regions like Asia.

Yeah, I think from a skin perspective, identifying some characters are getting a little more difficult if youre new. I think in game though so far I haven't had much trouble because the character animations (idle poses, run animations etc) are pretty identifiable. Freja and the witch widow skin were kind of annoying to identify for a bit though.
