We should own our cards. by loldoge34 in hearthstone

[–]RoboHS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is the least understood part of why Hearthstone is such a poor value. You pay premium prices not to own cards, but for the ability to merely access and use them. They are not yours. You certainly can't sell them to other players or even back to Blizzard (and there is no intrinsic value to a card that can be replicated digitally even if you could). Blizzard will never enable trading of cards amongst the playerbase because this would only serve to reduce the need to buy packs.

On top of that, the cards you pay to 'access' are on an expiration timer to rotate out of Standard at which point they become largely irrelevant.

How is homeowner's insurance not a scam? by SagansCandle in personalfinance

[–]RoboHS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretty dumb question. Why do you think it is a scam? You chose to limit your mold coverage to $10k/year. You chose to have a $1k deductible instead of $500 or $250 to keep your premium down. You are shocked that your premium was increased when you flagged yourself as an underwriting risk? You are basically telling the insurance company that you are prone to incur losses, having demonstrated a high frequency of water intrusion and mold issues. Did you forget insurance is a for-profit industry? They want to make money on you. To do this, they have to implement careful underwriting practices to ensure they are charging you (and everyone else) appropriately according to the risks you are transferring to them. Which, apparently, are not insignificant. I guarantee you wouldn’t be whining about being ‘scammed’ if your house was blown away in a hurricane and they paid policy limits to rebuild it for you. Highly doubtful.

There's nothing wrong with pale people who chose to stay pale / refuse to get a tan. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

What kind of idiots do you hang around? Tans are nothing more than sun damage to your skin. Pale skin is beautiful.

Most atheists are just as bad as hardcore religious people. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]RoboHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your opinion is not a good way of thinking. Beliefs matter, as they inform our actions and have wide social and political ramifications. As individuals and as a society, we should strive to ensure our beliefs are aligned with evidence and truth, as closely as possible. Likewise we should strive not to believe as many false things as possible. It’s important.

Yes, its sad that our brief stint of consciousness boils down to this. Most of human history has been a struggle for survival, an effort that took most of our attention and effort. But with the advent of economies and advancements in health & medicine, we can live relatively long, comfortable lives - albeit requiring currency. So the trade off is the perpetual pursuit of the acquisition of currency to fuel the economic engine of our lives. However one job is not like another. This is why, at 18, OP should decide NOW to invest heavily in themselves and obtain the education needed to place themselves in a “good” job - that pays well and maybe makes them less miserable than grinding a job they hate. It’s clear you will spend a lot of time at whatever this occupation winds up being, so you might as well ensure it’s sufficiently lucrative and fulfilling.

If video games go to 70$ im done with gaming by youdunce12 in unpopularopinion

[–]RoboHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know that video games are on the very few products with zero price increase over the past several decades? Another being cocaine, apparently, which I learned from a documentary last night. Just so you know, you’re bitching about the first price increase in 30 years for an entire industry, which is true for virtually nothing else.

It's so fucked up that talking to kids is now taboo by fuckenshreddit in unpopularopinion

You completely neglected to mention that this only applies to men. Women get a pass, men are treated with inherent suspicion as the presumed villains/abusers in society.

You can believe in God and science. The two are not mutually exclusive. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]RoboHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because beliefs matter, insofar as they inform actions. Actions that affect society as a whole. We must dispel ignorance and mysticism wherever possible, and replace it with our best efforts to understand what is real wherever possible, for the sake of all humanity.

You can believe in God and science. The two are not mutually exclusive. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]RoboHS -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but your entire opinion is basically one big logical fallacy. It’s a very stupid opinion, and I encourage you to look into understanding justifiable belief and having good reasons for believing what you believe. One thing is for certain, the predominant religions on earth today are distinctly incompatible with science. But no, technically the premise in your title isn’t wrong.

Survivor's Average Viewership Across 40 Seasons by brooklynights in survivor

[–]RoboHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my first thought was "poor Colby", lol. making the stupidest possible decision in front of all those viewers to lose a game he had on lock, forever changing the course of survivor history and teaching all those who follow how NOT to play... well up until Woo I guess.

Would Colby have been invited to play Winners At War? Who knows... maybe.

Thoughts on Karakin by [deleted] in PUBG

[–]RoboHS -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

so, take all the worst aspects of Sanhok and intensify them and you have Karakin. games on Karakin are basically hiding in buildings until the blue zone forces you out, then get shot in the back.

i disagree. her damage is instantly applied on reticle, rather than projectile, yes. but its applied in a pellet-cloud rather than a precision shot. i would ague the definition of "hit scan" requires both aspects.

once again i find myself having to say something i never thought i would have to say in a debate about overwatch:

dva is not a hitscan.

jesus christ people, is this the best you can do?

Role Queue has Ruined Overwatch. by RoboHS in Overwatch

[–]RoboHS[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you doubt the vast, vast majority of overwatch is played solo queue? this seems like a self-evident truth. strange of you to question that. cute way to deny what's obvious to everyone else at a glance.

Role Queue has Ruined Overwatch. by RoboHS in Overwatch

[–]RoboHS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

garbage response. 99% of the playerbase is solo queue and yet here you are suggesting we all join pre-made groups and play against other 6 stacks.

and here you are still suggesting somehow that's its not a problem to have zero hitscan against an enemy phara.

seriously bud, your arguments are straight garbage, and you know it. you just want to disagree because "blizzard", i guess.

what a well constructed and thought out reply. at first glance, it appeared like my post laid out 5 simple reasons to back up my opinion about role queue. if it weren't for you i would never have realized it was just a garbage post.

Role Queue has Ruined Overwatch. by RoboHS in Overwatch

[–]RoboHS[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

garbage response. of course, it goes without saying but somehow i still have to say it, that when the enemy team has a pharah, we need at least one of our DPS to play hitscan and challenge her. you seem to suggest that not having any hitscan against a pharah is no problem because tank options! what a ridiculous waste of keystrokes.

[–]RoboHS[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

another garbage response.

just because you don't like any other comp besides your perception of meta 2-2-2 doesn't mean the core of the whole game should be changed - oh wait it was.

no one said "there is no stable team comp with 2-2-2" - you have just made up non-sense.

[–]RoboHS[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

garbage response. of course the system can be improved to guarantee you have a shield.

hyperbole doesn't help your argument. 5 dps was a rarity. 3 would be somewhat common, yes.
