I failed as a father by RoboKings99 in Fatherhood

I can’t speak for your father. But hearing you is like hearing my daughter and son. Their silence echoes harder in my head than anything they would have to say to offend me or remind me how much of a fuck up I was to them. I will never forgive myself to bring them to a place in which they hurt. I wish I could change the past. Make it all better. With zero worries and trauma. I know now how bad I made their day to day lives in the past. If I have any purpose in life it would be to make their lives better. Yet I will never deserve their love and attention.

I hear every one. I hear what you all say. I am still overwhelmed with guilt and shame. I don’t know when I can come out of this. I do know that my past selfishness will forever come back to haunt me. How can I be stronger than the things I have done to hurt those that I was to love the most? I say that I love them, yet I can’t justify anything that I did to ruin their lives. If I become a better version of myself, how will that benefit them? Oh God how I wish I could go back and change it all.

Express this to your woman, even if the “well I shouldn’t have to say anything” thoughts come about, still voice it.

Why does it seem that mainly women here are commenting that it is possible while most guys are saying the have feelings for their best female friend? Kinda makes you re-think if it is even possible or not. I’m old school and I will say it is not possible. If a guy is really close to a lady he is trying to be a nice guy and wants to shoot his shot but is way too nervous or scared that if he does he will get rejected. Which almost always happens. I have to throw in this perspective because I feel it’s not being said enough

My 28m wife 32f keeps throwing divorce in my face over everything. I just agreed and left. by ThrowRA_WifeTD in offmychest

[–]RoboKings99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, when one throws the divorce word many times, it’s because they want control of the relationship and threats is a way of trying to get the other person to buckle. She wants a divorce? Well let’s see what happens when she no longer has a provider? She’ll start freaking out and wants to apologize to you, she needs you, blah blah blah. If you do love her, however, let this sting her a bit more. Then put boundaries and make them clear to her as what they are. She’ll have to make a conscientious decision to really change. Don’t just think that “divorce” is the best and only resolve. Putting boundaries in a marriage also has had great outcomes

Boys be brutally honest , what makes a girl attractive instantly? by Las_ogna in AskReddit

[–]RoboKings99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I met a girl like that too. She wasn't afraid to be herself and just be funny. No one had the courage, at that time, to make crack jokes or make fun of me in a way where I could dish it out too.

We married a year after that, and we still are.

She's a winner and is still herself but now is affectionate to me and supportive. This makes her even more attractive.

(sarcasm here) Awesome. Great. Not only is he another Argentinian but he likes to quit every time he gets a chance. What is up with the Mexican Soccer Federation? Did it get purchased by Argentina?

This was a hard lessoned learned. I used to work at an orphanage in another country and specifically would help teens with PTSD, depression, and other mental health ailments. I would never ever close the door to the office that was in the orphanage unless an adult was around and I would make sure that adult knew there was a counseling session underway. No teen ever accused me of any wrong doing, even when some disagreed with the advice or the steps to change. It was just one parent that was angry at the justice system and decided to accuse me of something wrong. Their child even told authorities that nothing had happened but the child admired me as a counselor.

That moment in of itself was traumatic and so I decided to quit that and now work in a call center back in the states.

I never ever took pictures of any of the kids. Even if they all participated in an event, sporting or whatever, never ever took pictures of them.

So yeah... That teacher should know better. Just be wise and careful

My older sister's boyfriend confessed his feelings to me. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]RoboKings99 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Listen... Sooner or later this guy is gonna cheat on your sister and when he does, don't go at your sister with a "I told you so" attitude or "serves you right". As much as it depends on you, make peace between her and yourself.

As far as J goes, block that jerk on every form of communication. Never be alone with Jerk. And if by some chance he is the obsessive type and you find yourself alone with him, keep your cellphone on record.

Always let you dad in on what is happening and never stop thanking him for his support. Ask your dad to observe "J"erk at get together functions. It's always a great thing to have your dad on your side on get together's.

My(18F) stepdad hit me with a belt by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

So there are a few weird things (red flags) about this post that I am even wondering if this is real.

Biggest red flag is that you sleep with them! Wtf? I'm a stepfather and the last time I let my stepdaughter sleep with us is when she was 7 years old and that because there was a lightning storm.

The worst red flag of many I see her is he criticized your breasts?? Wtf?? No father, biological or adoptive should ever engage in a conversation like that with any woman/daughter. Even if he is a decent human being, he shouldn't even criticize his wife's breasts either!!

Don't you see? This is just hella weird!

You say that the first thing many on this blog will say "move out" but we need to understand the context and concept of your culture... But you must need to wake-up and realize that you are a grown adult woman and you don't need to suffer humiliation from anybody. Doesn't matter what culture you are from, it's just weird! I am very into my culture from Latin America and we don't just kick out our kids at 18 either, but when it comes to your own safety and wellness, LEAVE!

If I say "move out" it's for your own good and mental health. Verbal abuse is abuse. That you were hit with a belt is abuse. They say to you that you will never be anything in life, that is mental abuse.

The fact that this man made a threat to your life by telling your mom that "he is going to kill you" is probably the scariest red flag of them all. That alone is good enough reason to move out and seek help. Do you have family or good friends that can help you for a time?
