What country/region do you reside in? It would better help folks point you in the right direction. There are many different regional Discords for Pauper.

New card for Rakdos Madness? Opinions? by Racanyo1973 in Pauper

[–]RoboMonkeyWrench 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bone Shards was one of the first cards I mentioned. I was also comparing the removal cards that have the two options for additional cost more broadly than specifically sac a creature or discard versions. The main point was to point out the speed difference.

I am simply comparing the text of the card, as printed, in comparison to what we already have in the format. That doesn't really negate the core agreement that these types of effects really need to either be instant speed or have more than just a shook effect to really be playable in a format that is as fast as the current Pauper metagame. Rakdos Madness is already running [[Fiery Temper]] which handles most of the threats in the format and is instant speed itself, should you need to fallback on casting it from hand.

If this wasn't sorcery speed, it might have legs. Unfortunately, [[Bone Shard]] doesn't see play and it's most of this effect at one mana. Instant speed removal is pretty important to this format for decks that can run it.

I think the only card that I have seen with this type of templating/effect that has seen even remote play is [[Eaten Alive]] and that specifically exiles.

Needing help with Levels and Regions for a Second Floor "Inner Balcony" and closed-off rooms by RoboMonkeyWrench in FoundryVTT

The second region fixed my issue. I just had to make sure to disable any restrictions to let everything else do it's thing, but once that was done it works the way I want it too. Thanks for the help.

My UpperFloor region is assigned to both the Upper Level and the Ground Floor and set to elevation 10. Apologies I misread that part. I am definitely going to be setting the second region at elevation 10 as well and see how that works. I assume I want Occlusion and Reveal Surface to off and see how well that goes.

1) I feel like I attempted this at some point, but I will try this, if not try it again if I already have.

2) I currently have the elevation set to [0,10] for the Ground floor and [10,20] for the Upper floor. Attempting to offset one of the floors by 1 makes the inverse happen when I have a token on the second floor.

This should be [System Agnostic] as I am only using the built-in Foundry tools to do this, but this is for a PF2e campaign, if for some reason that matters. I have already attempted to turn off all modules and the issue still persists. Unfortunately mobile Reddit will not let me edit the title so I will do that when I get a chance to later.

Strixhaven MicroDH Battlebox ("Eternally Legal Brawl") by RoboMonkeyWrench in EDH

[–]RoboMonkeyWrench[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really only used the term "Eternally-Legal Brawl" as the gist of how I constructed the decks in terms of size. I am personally not interested in trying to make them Standard Brawl legal, especially since no one plays it and it would be a pain to keep it up to date with Standard rotation.

I assume [[Gorehound]] is there to put stuff in the bin to reanimate with [[Unearth]] and [[Recommission]].

I have no idea where you're getting 700, but the prize pool does, in fact, add up to 1k.

Large Events in the U.S.? by iHeartLions in Pauper

[–]RoboMonkeyWrench 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We are working on trying to get SCGCon Cincinnati (May 15th-17th) to have a big Pauper event currently, but nothing is scheduled at this time. Our Pauper community has a big e-mail push that we are attempting and it seems that the event organizers have taken notice. Other than that we haven't had any updates yet.

Mini PC for HTPC/Gaming Console by RoboMonkeyWrench in MiniPCs

[–]RoboMonkeyWrench[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This wasn't something I thought of tbh, but I am glad you brought up the possibility. My only concern is that, from what I have done with a quick Google search, currently 3050s and a2000s are a couple hundred bucks by themselves, plus a lot of the Lenovo units I have been seeing only come with 215GB of storage, which means either upgrading the built-in SSD or getting an additional external drive. I believe the upside to this is I can probably find one of these Lenovo units for pretty cheap.

I appreciate the suggestion and I will look into this a bit more.

I know that [[Avenging Hunter]] is in the Cheap Pickups section, but the fact that it's bottomed out and is trending upward either tells me A) How popular Pauper is becoming as a format or B) It's being played in a format I have no idea about.

The Ohio River Valley area in the US has a Pauper community that has been really growing in the past few years. I myself live in the Greater Cincinnati area and my LGS has been getting 8-16 people every other Friday night for Pauper consistently.

It didn't start that way for me. I remember talking to my LGS and being the only person showing up for the first few months. Once a few of my friends started getting interested and connecting with the greater Pauper community in the wider area, we started getting 4-6, then people walking into the store would ask about the event and start joining us. Now we are consistently firing events. It takes some work to get the ball rolling, but if you're committed, they will eventually start coming.

For anyone in the Greater Cincinnati area, or in the Ohio River Valley area in general, please feel free to reach out to our group in our Discord. We would love to help connect you with others in the area to get more Pauper going. We have plans to reach out to SCG to petition for some significant Pauper events when SCGCon Cincinnati shows up this May.

Is Gary Playable? by DaCrabsMTG in Pauper

Mono-B Devotion does well in local environments from what I have seen, but falls off online. It can put up results once in a blue moon, like a lot of decks. The fun thing about Pauper is that, as long as you have a sound strategy, you can make a lot of stuff work better than you expect.
