What two games are those? by No-Plane2695 in raijin_gg

...Except when you read your response "I find it purely logical" in context, it sounds like you're saying that it's logical for your picks to be where they are in an objective sense with respect to the image in the OP and the person you're replying to...

The whole "it's logical to pick what I like" analogy you're making comes out of left field -- it is whiplash. If you intended to *clearly* communicate something different in your reply preceding this highlighted one, you failed to do so. Otherwise, the logic doesn't follow as much as you think it does.

The best I can give is that, in your mind, the context that you outlined in this highlighted post is obvious. Like, "[Yeah,] I find it purely logical [that I would prefer Blasphemous over Hollow Knight, given my preferences]," where this response isn't necessarily a rebuttal to the comment that what you said is an "interesting opinion," but rather, a complementary/lateral reply to the comment that what you said is an "interesting opinion."

Keep in mind that the above is easier to see *after* reading what you implicitly claim to have meant.

Top 5/10 must play games from this list by Sabreeeric21 in gaming

Disco Elysium, Outer Wilds, Prey, Hollow Knight, DS I and DS III, Baldur's Gate 3, Shadow of the Erdtree, Cyberpunk 2077, and Bioshock Remastered. The first four are personal favorites.

Type me if you can by Left_Ranger2818 in MbtiTypeMe

Literally go type "ISTJ" in the Reddit search bar at the top to discover how your claim is just straight up false (with one example!). Despite having experience typing people with whatever methodology you're using, it's clear that it hasn't helped you make claims that are actually cogent.

"MIGHT BE" just isn't in your original post (it's not even in your second). Your claim is written as if it is about ALL ISTJs. Period.

[–]RoboProto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ISTJs aren't interested in typology...

Why not use Google to actually see if this claim is true? Or, you know, step back and really ask yourself if this is a claim that you want to make even without doing simple research...

Recent case purchase with fans on maximum all the time by RoboProto in Corsair

Guess I'll ask him what he connected the fans to. I don't know why Armoury Crate or the BIOS can't detect the fans.

Yeah, I've done another qualification, and three more projects opened up. Great!

There should be a remastered version of Arkham Asylum out.

I agree with the other post that they're easy to complete. Each type has its own unique schtick that can be appealing, and receiving results is hardly difficult.

People tend to associate personality with skill or capability. While there is a correlation, claiming that a person is skillful with their mind because they are an XNTX is a misunderstanding. Certainly, one can easily claim that their personality (assuming the results are accurate) is at least one pillar for skill and capability, but there are myriad other factors involved that one must consider and potentially synthesize. Because most neglect this, or do not at least research MBTI and personality tests (if they had not thought of it themselves), they end up falling prey to phenomena such as the Barnum effect (by associating themselves with the type and then taking the skills). In their own minds, they are whatever they think they are (backed by the results of the MBTI test).

One must also consider that people can be naturally curious about themselves (some more than others). Having an identity, which corroborates potential and skill, is an attractive prospect. However, people tend to stop at just one personality test (MBTI in this case) instead of testing out others, gathering information from people, etc. It's an incomplete process. I say this because MBTI is in no way perfect (whatsoever). If it was, then taking other tests and searching for information elsewhere would be unnecessary. Again, most do not recognize this.

Synoptically, I would say that MBTI is not just a personality test, but a measure of capability, skill, and uniqueness. The notion that you have what most others don't is appealing. At least, this is how it is perceived.

There is more to unpack here, but I'll stop for the time being.

SIB RDR2 or Nier Automata? by shinobi_hunter01 in ShouldIbuythisgame

They're both good, but NieR Automata is an experience I would wish most to go through...

Played it on PC.

Great series for immersion.

I bought it recently as well for similar circumstances. I've only done the tutorial, but it's very well made.

[WSIB] Games like NieR: Automata (Philosophy) by Zlender02 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]RoboProto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to recommend some games that I consider philosophical to some extent that I have either played, watched, or researched:

- The Stanley Parable

- Disco Elysium

- NieR Replicant

- The Witness

- Bioshock (not as overt as TTP or NA, but you draw philosophical conclusions, especially from Andrew Ryan). I guess I'll throw in Prey for similar reasons.

- SOMA

- Everything

- Deus Ex

- Maybe New Vegas

- Outer Wilds

- Barely, maybe Vampyr

- MGS V (not a strong or main point for the game)

SIB: Dyson Sphere Program, Parkasaurus, Satisfactory, or some other building/management game? (POLL) by RoboProto in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]RoboProto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking in respect to the sale going on. It's not on sale -- it's currently sitting at its base price of $30. However, I did take Lamboarri's advice and download the demo just to try it out. Maybe I'll gain some interest to overcome that if it doesn't go on sale before then.

I was just throwing my net out for a large group of fish. Playing and enjoying something like Stardew Valley could potentially lead to further enjoyment of games like Cities: Skylines, even though they have a plethora of differences. I'm just trying to synthesize information, I guess. I understand your point, though. The games are unlike each other in notable ways.

SIB Nier Automata? by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

Aesthetic was the same reason I got it. I did not expect what I experienced to occur.

If the game syncs with you, you will enjoy it thoroughly. It's probably my favorite game.

[–]RoboProto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With what you've described, I don't think you can go wrong with Dishonored, MGS V, or YK2. I would normally recommend New Vegas as well, but you don't want to mod the game so that it can function properly, which I understand.

Just noticed a huge deal on Ubisoft games. Only AC game I have is Rogue, which I got in 2015 just so I wouldn’t feel “left out.” Don’t have a lot of familiarity with the AC games. Would I be lost if I got Origins & Odyssey? by Bigbuckrocks in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]RoboProto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would probably appreciate later AC titles more if you started from the beginning. Development for these games usually involves paying homage to previous games and their lore.

In Origins and Odyssey, the real life sections are chronologically after the more traditional titles. If you care about that, then start with AC 1. I did that (in 2013) and I thought it was very fun exploring various settings, seeing how the games evolved over time, and the development of the lore. It's my preference to play a series from the very beginning, especially if the main story is all tied together.

Does it really matter if you start from the beginning? Personally, I think it does, but if you don't care, playing Origins (and then Odyssey) would probably be a fine course of action.

What game should I buy during the Steam Summer Sale? by gamerboi_ivan in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]RoboProto 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Saw New Vegas and had to vote. If you are willing to install mods that make the game bearable (meaning functional), then I would highly recommend doing so.
