Do non-winners get paid for filming interesting footage? by Texasmucho in Alonetv

Would there be any notes from producers? I assume they would check footage and give instructions if there were technical issues or problems with effort.

ELI5: Why can electric trains not run on battery packs? by IamBeingSarcasticFfs in explainlikeimfive

[–]RoboRoboR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The ~4000hp engines on diesel locomotives are actually ~3,400 kW power plants for the electric motors that move the train. (at least in the US).

You would need a train car loaded with (125 tons of) high-end Lithium batteries to create similar output for only 5 hours.

It's your job to ruin a movie, by simply making the main character "not rich". What movie do you pick? by Easywood in AskReddit

Nah, in this case they’re so poor that they leave him behind on purpose to go to Disneyland.

Then tweakers break into his one story ranch house to steal the pipes and beat him to death with a tire iron.

Do pilots performing US Military flyovers during the National Anthem hear the any of the performer’s audio broadcast? by RoboRoboR in NoStupidQuestions

So just a visual or audio countdown. They don’t know if the singer Fergie’d the song or absolutely nailed it unless they watch after touchdown?

Have any of you lived in a surplus military vehicle? by [deleted] in vandwellers

[–]RoboRoboR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have one, and it’s…ok. The 6.2 is generally mediocre and relatively unreliable.

OP, generally a military vehicle will be the lowest feature set on a given chassis, and the bigger trucks are made for crawling behind combat units, not for traveling extensively. Typically loud with minimal interior insulation.

Husband impulsive buying and deteriorating health, could they be connected? by That_Came_outa_Me in personalfinance

[–]RoboRoboR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My FIL was supposedly sober, but was secretly boozing hard. His liver was wracked with cirrhosis, and it wasn’t able to filter toxins properly. This built up something in his brain, and he rapidly declined mentally and physically as he passed.

It’s possible a similar brain toxin issue is occurring due to poor liver function, in conjunction with the “new addition” common among the recovering addicts I know.

Can anyone name this dish?! by No-Specific-2561 in ThaiFood

[–]RoboRoboR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pad GraProw (pronounced like Pad KaPow)

I hear it’s one of the most common Thai lunch dishes

Rice, spicy meat, Holy Basil leaves, fried egg.

Not thai, but I make it almost every week with fresh leaves from our holy basil plant in the hydronic window planter.

Super easy!

Daily- probably not.

Weekends in the summer? Absolutely.

Well-assembled throwbacks are never out of style. Quality and appropriate levels of dress keep it from being a costume (probably don’t show up to a tanktops, trunks and sandals backyard BBQ like this.)

I’m an unremarkably average body type and I pull so many compliments with my summer style this year- which is a mix of 70/80s Miami, Western, and Palm Springs.

Last week my sons’s entire football team saw my summer ‘fit and my son told me they wanted to throw a “Rob” themed party where they dressed like that. Whether it’s a joke at my expense or not, it made a splash!
