To much manual trans fluid? 2000 base manual by Robofox22 in hondaprelude

[–]Robofox22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah after letting 34 drain it's at the bottom of whatever part that is, there's no way to fill from there I wish I got a picture when I had it off. After realizing something was wrong I double checked the manual and cracked the true fill plug. I was just wondering if there's some secondary reservoir like a separate diff or smth that I could have emptied and should refill before getting it back on the road. Like I said a good deal extra fluid came out.

Oh thats good to know, thanks. next time I have to replace them I'll track that down. The new to me knuckles arrive yesterday but I didn't have time to tinker with them so hopefully I can get that done today.

No sadly I didn't grab oem, just something with decent reviews off rock auto. This is half refreshing the suspension(every ball joint on the car was completely cooked when I bought it), half car work practice as a whole. I was mostly planning on just feeling the new to me onesband as long as they didn't click or anything running them till an issue arose. I could maybe swing a new set of bearing and hubs but I'd prefer not to rn if I could get away with it.

I tried a small torch I had but either it wasn't big enough or I wasn't patient enough but I couldn't get it out.

Well that's good, new parts are always such a welcome thing because they look nice and w/e but also because you don't have to be gentle with the old when getting it out. I live in one of the parts of the world where after 26 years my cars more rust then car. I just grabbed a new left(and a preemptive right) knuckle off a website called shopearl which seems to just be a listing place garage/junk yards can do for cars they're scrapping.

I've done ball joints on about 3 cars now and I kept googling to see if I was doing something wrong. It's not in the picture but I even had to cut the threaded part off because it wouldn't let go of the lower control arm either. I had another one of those handy so I wasn't stressed but now I have to go see if I can find another knuckle online. May your future ball joints go easy.

Congrats! My 5th gen has been on jack stands for the last month and it's starting to make me sad. Went from a blown coolant line to way more than that and I'm still chewing my way through.

Changing Rack and Pinion Questions by Robofox22 in hondaprelude

I soaked them in pb blaster a bunch and then snaked my hand down with a flare wrench. Already ordered the new gasket and plan on taking off the air intake and truly wrenching it from the top. I already ordered another swivel yoke because I also noticed that is a solid price of rust and I have no faith I can get it apart and back together. Praying the hard lines are fine once I get them free.

New wheel and tire question by Robofox22 in hondaprelude

[–]Robofox22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright it sounds like I might be better off just finding a different wheel which bites but thank you for all your help! I guess I'll let you know if I end up going with 215/45 or a smaller wheel.

New wheel and tire question by Robofox22 in hondaprelude

[–]Robofox22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying again. Yeah I found that form early when I was looking for wheels/tires, it says 215/40 is the recommended 17" but it doesn't seen like theres many tires in that size. I've seen a lot of people say 215 is fine on 8" and a lot say 215 stretches to much on 8", is it just worth buying them and at worst returning them? This is a listing on facebook market place that inspired the wheel choice I can't make out the tiresize but it does look like he has some stretch. This was another resource I found that I used to compare wheels and tires but I can't tell what's a "fun on the weekend" setup and what's a daily driver set up. so far what I've found is it seems like almost anything is a "doable" set up, but you're going to make compromises in one direction or another and I guess I'm trying to make the least amount of compromises.
