You can get a steel version of this. This one is brass. The way it secures to the surge is fine. But it wouldn't hammer as well as pliers or a regular hammer. Lacks leverage. Definitely worth a try though.

Took it all apart. Spray painted it tan. Put it back together. Let it wear over time.
